Getting to Kings New York From the airport: If you have booked an airport transfer: Our representative will meet you at or near the airport information desk. They will be holding a Kings’ sign with your name and ‘Kings New York’ on it. If you cannot find your driver: Go to the closest Airport Information Desk and wait for the driver to find you. If you still cannot find your driver or if your flight is delayed: Please ask the clerk at the Information Desk for help in calling Kings: +1 914 222 0074 Alternative emergency number: +1 857 251 9818 Kings emergency number: +1-888-717-1914 You should not leave the airport terminal. If you’re staying at a residence: Your driver will drop you off at the main entrance to College of Mount Saint Vincent. You will follow Kings welcome signs to the Security Office and they will further instruct you on checking into your room.

From JFK or LaGuardia airports, students can take a bus service to Grand Central Terminal in New York City. The cost is approximately $15 - $20 one way. NYC Airporter is located at the ground transportation desk (at the welcome center) of every terminal at JFK Airport and LaGuardia Airport. NYCgo.com

If you are staying in host family accommodation and have not booked an airport transfer with Kings, we recommend using an official taxi service to take you to your host family on arrival. Follow the signs to the official taxi ranks outside the terminal building.

From Newark Airport to Kings Residence on public transportation:

If you’re staying at a homestay: Your driver will take you directly to your host family, and will wait until you’ve been welcomed into the home.

From Newark airport, take Newark Airport Express to Grand Central Terminal for approximately $20 one-way. coachusa.com

If you have not yet booked a Kings’ airport transfer: If you have not yet submitted your flight details, or would like to book a transfer, please contact our admissions team to do this. You need to do this at least one week before you travel. If you will take a private taxi transfer from the airport: students should proceed to official taxi stands outside every terminal at the airports. It is recommended to ignore the non-licensed taxis at the airports, as they could be scams.

Public transportation from Newark Airport to Kings New York would be approximately 2 hours, spanning 2 trains, 1 subway, and a bus. We would suggest a taxi or private car service for transportation, which would be approximately 40 minutes.

Ensure you have your housing booking confirmation with the address ready to show the taxi driver. Also ensure you have enough US$ to pay for the ride (it is OK to ask for the price beforehand, even if it will be an estimate)

Getting to Kings New York From the train station College of Mount Saint Vincent offers two shuttle service lines. The Gold Line runs between campus and the nearest NYC subway line - the 1 train at Van Cortlandt Park and 242nd Street. The White Line runs between campus and the 2, 4, 5, 6, B and D NYC subway trains

From the bus stop College of Mount Saint Vincent offers two shuttle service lines. The White Line runs between campus and multiple bus lines. The closest public bus is one block from campus.

Your first day at Kings New York

Arrival and induction You will receive your new Classmate login details during your first week — allowing you access to lots of interesting information and e-learning resources that will be used alongside your classes.  A Kings staff member will take all new students on a walk around the local area during your first week, so you get to know the local environment and feel more at home You will be able to find detailed information on social and enrichment activities and sign up for these activities as they are available. You will meet other students who are also new to Kings and start making friends right away!

First day checklist

Orientation begins at 9:00 at Kings office at Founders Hall. If you live off campus, please arrive by 8:45. Check your confirmation letter for details. Kings English students note that all courses start on Monday or, if that falls on a US public holiday, the Tuesday following. You will be able to register, take part in orientation activities, and take part in a tour of the school and local area with Kings staff. You will take an English placement test during orientation. This is nothing to worry about — we just want to assess your English level in more detail to make sure you are assigned to the right class. You will receive your detailed timetable on the first day so you will know your schedule for the rest of the week.


COVID-19

Pre-arrival guide: Kings New York

School Safety All students, faculty, and staff who will live, learn, and work at Kings New York and the College of Mount Saint Vincent must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose. Vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) will be accepted. Immunization against COVID-19 will allow for increased on-campus activities and will also greatly reduce the risk of transmission. Vaccines are free and currently available to all individuals in New York at pharmacies, community centers, and various other locations. Fully vaccinated individuals will not have to be tested for COVID-19 on a regular basis. Classrooms will return to normal capacity and activities will once again take place throughout campus. Students will still be required to wear a mask indoors.

What happens if there is a positive COVID-19 case?

Daily symptom tracking will not be required, but if any symptoms appear, you must agree to stay home and immediately get tested. If positive, school staff must be notified immediately for contact tracking purposes.
