King’s20 accelerator is a 12-month programme to support 20 of the best start-up ideas from King’s to reach their potential. The King’s20 accelerator is a new programme to support and house 20 of King’s highest potential ventures at the prestigious Bush House building in Strand Campus. We will give start-up teams transformational experiences - through technical and personal mentorship from exports, an inspiring peer community at our new Bush House premises, investment advice and introductions, and access to grant funding that will help their ventures fly. Most of all, we want to develop their skills as entrepreneurial leaders for whatever challenges lie ahead in life. The focus of the programme is centred first and foremost on developing individual entrepreneurs, both in terms of technical business skills and leadership skills such as decision-making, collaboration, and self-efficacy. We will also evaluate progress of the ventures in terms of revenue, team size and investment raised, as well as wider socio-economic benefits such as

job creation, wealth creation and social impact, reflecting the university’s ethos of ‘In the service of society’.’
The accelerator programme will: • Deliver and evaluate an impactful programme of support that will help ventures to successfully start up and scale, over six sprints. From idea validation to design and pitching. • Provide a network of mentors, investors and partners to support our entrepreneurs • Offer exceptional co-working space where entrepreneurship at King’s can thrive • Invest in our student, staff and alumni. The programme will aim to support personal development as much as venture progression.

Health & Social Care TWEET PITCH Cancer Calculator is an innovative app that helps doctors detect cancer. Early diagnosis & treatment means more lives saved from cancer.
PROBLEM CANCER CALCULATOR www.projectmedicine.com @PMedicine bhavagaya@gmail.com
Cancer is the biggest cause of death in any age group. Sadly, one-in-three people will get cancer during their lifetime. Detecting cancer early is crucial for successful treatment and survival, yet in the UK we lag behind the rest of Europe for early diagnosis.
SOLUTION Early signs and symptoms of cancer are vague, non-specific and difficult to detect. We have developed a Cancer Calculator; a mobile application that uses an evidenced-based algorithm to signpost to doctors which symptoms should be referred as suspected cancers.
MARKET We would be marketing this application to doctors, primarily GPs.
BUSINESS MODEL THE ASK Support to connect with healthcare providers, to expand the functionality of the app and the availability on different IT platforms.
Subscription model with healthcare providers.
TRACTION We have been able to connect with Macmillan, Cancer Research UK and Clinical Commissioning Groups and other NHS agencies.
A missed diagnosis is devastating, for the patient and the doctor. Doctors face a real challenge to detect subtle signs and symptoms. Current standards of care are variable. We needed a solution that was quick, accurate and would improve cancer diagnosis rates.

Health & Social Care TWEET PITCH HMS is a digital platform that connects students and clinicians with start-ups to co-create better health technology.
PROBLEM HEALTH MAKE SPACE www.healthmakespace.com
Whilst the number of healthcare apps has grown exponentially, relatively few are adopted in everyday practice owing to limited clinician input and expert insight during development. This is our current health-tech paradox.
@SelflessUK
SOLUTION
info@selfless.org.uk
Tech-savvy clinicians can use HMS to collaborate with like-minded startups according to their location and availability. Simply put, a LinkedIn for healthcare innovators.
MARKET There are 15 Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs) in England responsible for spreading innovation at pace and scale nationwide.
BUSINESS MODEL THE ASK Improving product development; enhancing user engagement; broadening our target market beyond AHSNs; further sales.
One-off build cost and renewable subscription fee licensing model, paid for by the AHSN.
TRACTION We have already secured a commercial agreement with Imperial AHSN and support from senior policymakers including the Medical Director of the NHS.
We entered medicine to improve individual and societal health and wellbeing. Digital technology accelerates the impact we can have. However, our progress is being hampered by a lack of clinical relevance and usability. HMS aims to bridge the gap by bringing together coders, entrepreneurs and clinicians to meet in one place.

PROBLEM HELPER BEES LTD www.helperbees.co.uk @helperbees hello@helperbees.co.uk
Many parents looking after young children will reach a point of exhaustion where they would like some short-term assistance with childcare or household tasks, while they take a moment to recover. This would ideally be a reliable, available, affordable helper who they can access through an easy booking process.
SOLUTION Helper Bees draws from cohorts of students of paediatric nursing and midwifery to provide credible and available short term help with childcare and household tasks for these families. The booking process is simple and allows parents to rate and review helpers before booking.
MARKET London childcare market is an estimated 1 billion. We hope to access 10% of this market.
BUSINESS MODEL THE ASK
Helper Bees takes 20% commission of nanny posting conducted through us.
Expert advice, learning from the problems and wisdoms of other entrepreneurs.
TRACTION During a short trading period, we found ourselves oversubscribed and unable to meet the demands of families calling us.
In my job as a paediatrician, I see too many exhausted parents whose lives would be transformed by having short term help while they catch their breath.

Technology TWEET PITCH A1 Office Health builds smart office technologies that provide actionable insight to increase workers' health and productivity.
PROBLEM A1 ERGOTECH a1officehealth@gmail.com
To some it’s unheard of, but our increasingly sedentary lifestyle and physical inactivity is the fourth biggest killer on the planet, even ahead of obesity. Dubbed as the "new smoking", sitting long hours also correlates with getting colon cancer, type-2 diabetes, depression and number of musculoskeletal disorders.
SOLUTION For desk-based workers, we provide state-of-the-art technology-embedded smart office furniture and gadgets, such as smart chairs and wearables that keep track of health by reminding users to take short breaks, correct their posture, and do the necessary stretches to avoid long term injuries and diseases.

PROBLEM INTUITION TECH intuitiontch@gmail.com
Software-defined networking (SDN) currently lacks the monitoring and management tools that network operators have been using for many years on legacy infrastructures. This slows down SDN adoption, as the operators have to develop their own in-house solutions for this purpose.
SOLUTION We are planning to develop networking monitoring and management tools for SDN that will allow operators to manage their networks in an easy and intuitive way, that also caters to people who are not trained in SDN.
MARKET In the UK alone, our total addressable market in telecommunications operators is ÂŁ41.3 billion.

PROBLEM BAHATI BOOKS www.bahatibooks.com @BahatiBooks info@bahatibooks.com

Media & Advertising TWEET PITCH PixSure - the intelligent modelling of social media users, through images. #Kings20
PROBLEM PIXSURE bridark17@gmail.com
Advertisers target users on social media based on what they are talking about, but images say more about user behaviours. 60% of images shared on social media have no text to describe their contents; our mission is to provide advertisers user information which is currently lost.
SOLUTION PixSure is a platform which serves as a filtering system, repackaging information which is captured from images and pooling it into a portable and targetable user model. Food & Agriculture TWEET PITCH Moovr is an innovative app connecting farmers to transport options in developing countries, bringing new opportunities to old problems.
PROBLEM MOOVR www.facebook.com/moovrkcl moovr.uk@gmail.com
Millions of rural farmers in Kenya, and more around the world, have no options for affordable transportation to the livestock market and sale price of their choice. Meanwhile, truckers miss potential customers due to lack of information about people needing transport on their route.
SOLUTION Like Uber, Moovr will recruit truckers and match them with farmers via an SMS-based app when their route, price per head, and load capacity matches the needs of the farmers. Farmers will also give an acceptable price range and will only pay once they’ve reached their destination.
MARKET Roughly three-million small-scale livestock farmers throughout Kenya, with around 14 million head of cattle plus other livestock.
