Inspire Academic Enrichment Programme Spring Term 2018
INTRODUCTION Spring Term 2017 Welcome back and I hope that you have had a lovely Christmas and New Year. As ever, we have an exciting and action-packed Inspire Programme for the term ahead. It is a great pleasure to see so many new, student-led academic groups and societies starting up in response to the varied interests and specialisms among the student body in the school: from parliamentary debating to astrophysics and global current affairs and politics, there is a huge range of new groups this term for you to attend and contribute to. The Mars Society continues its excellent work as we look ahead to our link event with the International Space Station in April. In the Spring Term we will continue to work towards this event and we have a committed group of students studying with experts ahead of their Radio Licensing examination to facilitate our link with the space station. This term we welcome a very special guest as our inaugural Landor Association speaker: their identity will be revealed shortly before the event! Our Inspire Lecture takes place on 11 January with the visit of Dr Ute Hirsekorn who will be talking on German unification and autobiographical writing. We also look forward to Inspire trips to Oxford and Cambridge Universities and to the RSC Stratford to see John Webster’s revenge tragedy, The Duchess of Malfii. In addition, the Language Showcase Evening on 1 March promises to be an exceptional event. We hope you will make the most of the academic societies, clubs and events this term!

Mrs Renton Deputy Head (Pastoral)
