Dear Parents, At the end of this week, our Year 13 students go on study leave ahead of their A-Level examinations. It is important now that they feel confident and use their remaining time ahead of the examinations productively and effectively to consolidate their learning and to practise exam-style questions. I wish them every success and I am sure that their efforts will be rewarded on results day. Our academic departments at King’s have and will continue to deliver the very best support and preparation for the examinations. In this booklet you will find all of the important information regarding key dates, academic support sessions, and results day. If you have any additional questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact Miss Carney or myself. Yours sincerely,
Dr SJ Burley

EXAMINATION LEAVE ARRANGEMENTS Study leave begins on Friday 18 May at 3:45pm. During study leave your daughter will only be required to be in school on days when she has examinations, arriving by 8.35am when she has a morning examination and by 1.15pm when she has an afternoon examination. Lunch will be available at 12.30pm. She may choose to be in school to revise when she does not have an examination and some girls find the routine of the school day helps them to structure their revision time. Listed below are the weekly academic support sessions that departments are offering to year 13 students during study leave. These sessions run from the beginning of study leave to the final examination for each subject. With the exception of Design and Technology all sessions are optional and students are required to email their teachers in advance of each session to register their attendance.

RESULTS DAY A-Level and AS-Level results are available on the morning of Thursday 16th August. There are two methods of accessing your daughter’s results:
Electronically (6.00am) Examination results will be available via iSAMS from 6.00am via your daughter’s user name and password on her portal page. This means that your daughter’s results will be accessible by her from anywhere with an internet connection if she is not at home on results day. Accessing examination results on iSAMS is straightforward. Your daughter simply needs to log on to her iSAMS page in the normal way and once in the ‘Results’ section click on ‘View Results’. I would recommend that she checks that her log in details work correctly well in advance of results day so that any issues can be rectified in advance.
In person (6.00 – 10.00am) A-Level examination results will also be available for collection in person from the Sixth Form Centre Common Room from 6.00am until 10.00am on Thursday 16th August. If collected from school, results should be collected in person by your daughter. Refreshments will be available from 8am when Heads of Department will also arrive to be on hand for further discussion about results. Results collected in person on the day allows any issues arising to be dealt with promptly by the senior staff present. Senior staff will also be available after 10am for specific appointments if your daughter needs a longer conversation. Careers staff will also be available throughout the morning to offer support, assistance and advice as necessary in contacting universities and deciding upon courses of action. It is important to note that universities will only speak with the student on results day, so whilst staff are on hand to support and advise, the girls must, where necessary, speak to the admissions team at universities directly. It is our policy that we do not issue results by telephone or to any designated third party.

POST-RESULTS SERVICES Following the publication of examination results on 16th August, students can request an ‘Enquiry about Results’ and access to their script. Parents will be able to download instructions for this process from the parent portal pages and the forms will be available online and in hard copy on results day. In signing and submitting the ‘Enquiries about Results Form’, the examination paper will be reviewed by the relevant board and it is very important to note that the original grade awarded could go up or down. In the majority of cases there is no change in the original result. With the exception of ‘priority reviews of marking’ where university places may be at stake, we would always recommend obtaining a photocopy of the script before applying for a review of the marking. For this reason, we strongly advise that an Enquiry about Results Form is submitted only after consultation with the relevant Head of Department or a senior member of staff, and once the result is understood in relation to the grade boundaries, and in the context of raw marks and UMS. At A Level the options available are: Return of the original exam script Return of a photocopy of the exam script Clerical check (with or without a copy of the script) Review of Marking (with or without a copy of the script) Priority Review of Marking (with or without a copy of the script) The deadline for a ‘priority enquiry about results’ is Thursday 23rd August. The deadline for a standard enquiry about results is Tuesday 21st September.
