KRCS faculty are committed to academic excellence while placing utmost importance on KNOWING each student and guiding them through their school career. It is our hope that students leave KRCS KNOWING who they are, whose they are, and how they are uniquely wired to serve God.”

As King’s Ridge Christian School embarks on its 16th year, we pause to reflect on how God has blessed our school community. In “the blink of an eye”, enrollment has grown from 195 to 853 students. Likewise, our faculty and staff have been on a parallel growth path from 23 to 147 strong. It would have been hard to imagine how quickly this growth launched KRCS from a grocery store to a beautiful 70-acre campus with seven buildings, stadium, and various sports fields and courts. More important than the attractive campus and expansion of the number of lives touched are the accomplishments of King’s Ridge students. The Class of 2016 continues to follow the path of KRCS alumni to be recognized for college preparedness by receiving scholarship offers of over $4.6 million for 47 graduates. Results of the AP scores in 2015-2016 were outstanding with 92% of the 138 tests scoring 3 or higher (usually earning them college credit). Furthermore, the SAT scores of our graduates were 255 points above the Georgia average, 220 points above the national average and 133 points above the GISA (Georgia Independent School Association) average. Congratulations to our students for their outstanding work and to our faculty for their excellent instruction. KRCS faculty are committed to academic excellence while placing utmost importance on KNOWING each student and guiding them through their school career. On the following pages, you will have the opportunity to read a few of the stories of how systems and processes have been designed to create effective and meaningful pathways for our students to engage in “knowing” and being “known”. As a result, it is our hope that students leave KRCS KNOWING who they are, whose they are, and how they are uniquely wired to serve God. Thank you for your incredible generosity in the 2015-2016 school year as the first 15-day Annual Fund, “In the Blink of an Eye”, was kicked off as well as the “Making Room for HIStory” Capital Campaign. Without a doubt, KRCS cannot thrive without the generosity of our families in both the Annual Fund and Capital Campaign. Current and future KRCS students benefit greatly from contributions of your time, talents and treasures. May God bless you, your family and King’s Ridge Christian School, C. David Rhodes, III Headmaster

Bright Moments Spark Curiosity, Ignites Life-Long Learning CAN YOU WHIP OFF A TABLECLOTH WITHOUT THE DISHES COMING WITH IT? A HEX NUT IS ON TOP OF A YELLOW RING. HOW CAN YOU MOVE THE RING AND MAKE THE HEX NUT FALL INTO THE BOTTLE? Third grade students discovered the answers to these physics questions and more during a lesson on force and motion in their Lower School science lab. Lab time allows students to extend the King’s Ridge approach to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) learning by applying the concepts from science class and integrated enrichment opportunities. This lab time gave meaning to words such as mass, gravity, friction and force. “The hands-on approach of our Lower School science curriculum excites and prepares students to safely perform experiments,” shares Pattye Bright, Lower School science coordinator. “They are also challenged to use critical thinking skills as they complete laboratory write-ups, read non-fiction texts, and demonstrate their understanding through assessments.”

One of my joys is KNOWING my students and how they become inspired through science to become life-long learners.” Hands-on materials, games and cooperative learning activities engage students in the learning process. “One of my joys is KNOWING my students and how they become inspired through science to become life-long learners. Nurturing their intellectual curiosity sparks that excitement,” notes Bright. Any observer can see why students are so attracted to science. Activities in the science lab allow students to develop their creativity and problem solving skills, while realizing that vocabulary and writing are tools to academic success. The classroom is structured so that each child is challenged to experience success in a safe and nurturing environment. To learn more about the Lower School science lab and to discover if the tablecloth came off the table without breaking the dishes, visit Pattye’s blog: http://pbright2.edublogs.org/

The Houses give students an opportunity to interact with younger and older students in a fun, spirited environment, while building leadership skills and promoting kindness.

Adding a bit of healthy competition between Houses, collaboration and teamwork become the norm. Houses also provide older Middle School students with leadership opportunities by serving on the House Council and through the organization of school-wide activities.

What Will You Do With Your God-Designed Purpose, Passion and Calling?

Consider becoming a member of the following areas:

Care and Prayer Committee

The JOURNEY for Life Impact (JLI) is a distinctive life and college prep approach with lifelong implications for students.

A network of parents that provide prayer and care for the specific levels within KRCS such as rides and meals.

It allows KNOWING how each student has been created with a unique purpose via a path of self-discovery from Pre-K through twelfth grade. This involves intentional, planned actions toward achieving their life and career goals while developing skills on leading others by serving at the highest level. While Career Exploration and College Preparation are addressed by students in all school levels, accelerated attention is placed in these areas starting in the ninth grade. Students complete a 16-tier data-driven career discovery process online through the YouScience Profile. This assessment allows students to discover their core drivers (what they do naturally well), interests (what they love to do) and amplifiers (God-given areas of passion). So, what makes YouScience unique? • It uses a series of mental exercises to scientifically measure the 14 most important aptitudes (natural abilities) to make a

The JOURNEY for Life Impact allows students to cultivate their dreams, explore options and recognize they have been designed to be uniquely known as His.” Dr. Joe Hutto, director of Life Impact, shares, “YouScience is a great tool that serves as a framework to focus our process in the high school years. Combining student aptitudes and interests allows us to guide them on a clearer path to educational and career success. The JOURNEY for Life Impact engages students to cultivate their dreams, explore options and recognize they have been designed to be uniquely known as His. The outcome will be alumni who depart the KRCS campus with great potential to impact the world. Much like Daniel serving in Babylon, they will stand out as distinctive servant leaders in their environments.”

Five relational ministries are available to all KRCS parents and are part of an engaging Christian environment where one can experience Christian love and acceptance. If you would like information on how to join one or more of these groups, please feel free to refer to the KRCS All School News, calendar, or contact Angie Bauman, director of Christian Life at abauman@kingsridgecs.org.

Timothy and Tarrah Kittredge

As a Christian School, KRCS vets our partner companies with a filter to ensure we are working with those who operate with the same ethical values we demand of ourselves and to be truthful and transparent in how we communicate and make decisions. A number of Student Scholarship Organization (SSO) companies were interviewed and the decision was made to partner with Apogee. While Apogee wasn’t the largest SSO in the state, we recognized a group that aligned with an operational excellence we strive to model at KRCS. They were progressive with their technology operations, offered stellar customer service, and the only SSO that at the time offered an online registration with supporting credit card transaction capability. Knowing the demographics and busy lives of our families, we felt this organization was a natural fit for KRCS. What is the SSO? Each individual, married couple, C-corp or S-corp who has a Georgia state liability is eligible to redirect a portion of those taxes toward a Student Scholarship Organization partnered with an independent school. It ultimately costs Georgia taxpayers no money as your contribution is refunded to you at tax time. These funds are then directed to students who enroll from a public school to an independent school and only those who demonstrate need through the financial aid application process are eligible for funds. How does the SSO benefit all KRCS students? The SSO permits the gateway for children to enroll from families who can afford to pay a portion of tuition, but need some help to fill the gap. The SSO allows our students to develop relationships with enrolled classmates who have a range of economic resources at their disposal. This is part of their
