Social Cohesion
Boundaryless community
Aimed at providing a sense of place and a vibrant community space, the design welcomes people from all backgrounds ensuring the unity among differences. The proper scale will promote a healthy connection between the community and its neighbourhood.
Human scale
With a fixed model for apartments, windows and landscapes, the model is repeated a number of times integrating each piece to maintain the sense of space. All in all, this project focuses not only on individual houses but community and life in them.

Apartment layout Amidst all the high-rise buildings being built in and around Kathmandu, the main goal of designing the apartment was to eliminate such. The mid-rise apartment units serve not only as dwelling quarters but a boundaryless community that fosters social harmony. The idea of stacking one unit on top of another creates unlimited options in terms of form and function giving them unique individual character.
8
Housing layout The housing units are arranged in a cluster with the goal of creating a vibrant community. The concept of creating a community is emphasized rather than just another housing unit. In the cluster, common streets serve the housing units on either side, with a cul-de-sac at the end. Each unit has its own farming and garden area. The back door of each house opens up to common green space which fosters social interaction and harmony.

Iteration & Site Primer Being based on the main idea of honeycomb pattern and trying to form operational spaces, we played with form. In the pictures above, we can see the iterations as the result of scaling the mass and void. As we move further, we extracted few ideas from our precedent study of ATBAT, Morocco housing. The honeycomb pattern expressing the rhythmic pattern that fascinated us of Nid’daibelles was used in our iteration. The mass and void could form indoor living spaces and outdoor operational spaces respectively with the need of occupants.
30
Design Primer The design is developed with the local site context; Dhulikhel, Nepal. The basic idea is to differentiate the relationship between public and private domain. For this, the ground floor function as public space and the upper floors as private 1 BHK apartments. It emphasizes the honeycomb pattern in ATBAT housing. The structure is load bearing with timber as structural member. The rafters, purlins and wooden floor boards function as structural flooring members on each levels which represent the building material and technology of traditional Newari architecture of Dhulikhel.

07 The Bambook Location : Dhoksan, Nagarkot Submission for Supertecture- All Nepal Future Classroom Design Competition Participant
Project Overview: A student’s mind is always on the lookout for fresh and interesting ideas to learn. In today's world where education needs to be free, the future classroom is a chamber with no barriers. The classroom without walls depicts the fact that life happens outside of what is taught in classroom.
32
Bamboo is used to add structural stability and lightness to the design. The cob wall is introduced as a load-bearing wall that is locally available and contributes to the building's insulation.
Casual sitting is provided with flexible furniture, allowing for more participatory lessons in the classroom with colorful accents to capture the attention of students.
