THERE ARE SIX SIDES TO EVERY CONNECTION Hexagon reflects the cultural shift toward more collaborative environments— influencing the ways we work, walk, communicate and create. This new shape of carpet tile design will change the way you move through a space, veer you off the beaten path and encourage collaborative chemistry. Build a social hive. Form new communities. GEOMETRIC
GENIUS A natural evolution of form beyond square and rectangle. Hexagon creates more connection points and removes the linear path. It will change the way you move through a space. Reesie Duncan | Creative Director, Shaw Contract Group
A natural evolution of form beyond square and rectangle, hexagon is the next logical move for the design of carpet tile. And while it may be geometrically perfect with six equal sides, it’s anything but linear. This new shape reinforces the social aspect of a space, as well as the physical and mental interaction that occurs within it. “In commercial

spaces, we achieve the best outcome when we pay respect to order and process, or implied natural proportions. Repetitive forms remain a cornerstone of good architecture and design,” says Reesie Duncan. As a society, we depend on more connection points than ever before, and our workplace reflects this. “Today, nothing is linear,” Reesie adds. “Hexagon creates more

connection points and removes the linear path. It will change the way people move through the space, to develop social communities that facilitate networking and collaboration. We often see our customers create angular, organic seating areas or workspaces. Now, Hexagon allows for a similar system to be implemented on the floor.”

Six-sided Sustainability Hexagon is Cradle to Cradle Silver Certified and uses premium Eco Solution Q® fiber with 45 percent recycled content.* All tiles feature EcoWorx® backing, which is completely recyclable, PVC-free and contains 44 percent recycled content. Hexagon contributes to LEED credits, including recycled content, low-emitting materials and innovation in design.
* Recycled content is based on allocated nylon fiber from Shaw’s total nylon fiber production and determined as a percentage of total Eco Solution Q output. Actual recycled content in this product will vary.
Bevel offers a visual deconstruction of the hexagon—both through a dimensional layering of the shapes and through a plush, sheared finish.

There are limitless ways to install Hexagon, yet there is a constant, rhythmic pattern that occurs from the geometric blocking of the tile. The palette is designed in a color wheel of related values and nuances of tone. Color families can be combined in groups of three tonal values to create unique social hives of color on the floor. This concept encourages unlimited connections, combining colors and patterns to create an interconnectedness among the inhabitants of the space.

SHADES
OF CONNECTIVITY Building a social hive is one thing. Defining a new path is entirely another. The Hexagon palette is thoughtfully planned to color any sort of connection in every kind of space. These neutrals network from warm to cool with pops of bright, so you can form subtle color shifts or plan vibrant groupings.

We collaborated with some of design’s most respected connectors—designers who network to bring people, minds and causes together. We wondered what they would create with Hexagon. The result? Three dynamic installations that reflect their idea of design.

Conceptualizing with the Hexagon products led us down a path of thinking about the chemistry of collaboration. The way Hexagon brings groups together for community and conversation is a lot like what a molecular compound does. And great chemistry is important to how teams can bond and come up with great ideas.

John is the Founder and President of Public Architecture, whose 1% program has built a national network of design professionals providing $42 million in pro-bono services annually. The program facilitates further social change through an annual Design Access Summit, which was born out of necessity for true collaboration between the design and social sectors. The summit serves as a conduit, bridging the design, government, foundation and non-profit worlds to explore cross-sector relationships. At the core, there exists an ambitious hive of diverse professionals who share the common interest of giving the underserved access to good design. Together, they are making a powerful statement.
Reflecting the multiple layers and networking of Design Access, my Hexagon installation is a web of connections. Design Access brings together groups with a vested interest to improve social and environmental outcomes. 25
