Byron Nelson Award The Byron Nelson Award is based on each player’s adjusted scoring average. The adjusted score is computed from the average score of the field at each tournament. As a result, a player’s score may be higher or lower than his actual score. Actual scoring average was used to determine the scoring leader prior to 1988. In order to qualify for the Byron Nelson Award, a player must compete in a minimum of 50 official rounds on the PGA TOUR. 1980 Lee Trevino 1981 Tom Kite 1982 Tom Kite 1983 Raymond Floyd 1984 Calvin Peete 1985 Don Pooley 1986 Scott Hoch 1987 David Frost 1988 Greg Norman 1989 Payne Stewart 1990 Greg Norman 1991 Fred Couples 1992 Fred Couples 1993 Greg Norman 1994 Greg Norman 1995 Greg Norman 1996 Tom Lehman 1997 Nick Price 1998 David Duval 1999 Tiger Woods 2000 Tiger Woods 2001 Tiger Woods

The Vardon Trophy, named in honor of famed British golfer Harry Vardon, is awarded annually by the PGA of America. From 1947 to 1987, the Vardon Trophy was awarded to the professional golfer with the lowest-scoring average. In 1988, the criteria were adjusted to award the Vardon Trophy to the touring professional with the lowest adjusted scoring average based on a minimum of 60 official rounds in events cosponsored or approved by the PGA TOUR. Any player with an incomplete round is ineligible to win the Vardon Trophy.

The PGA Player of the Year Award is given by the PGA of America to the top PGA TOUR player based on a mathematical formula that weighs tournament wins, official money standing and scoring average. The point system for selecting the Player of the Year was amended in 1982, as follows: 30 points for winning the PGA Championship, U.S. Open, British Open or Masters Tournament; 20 points for winning THE PLAYERS Championship; 10 points for winning all other designated PGA TOUR events. In addition, there is a 50-point bonus for winning two majors, 75-point bonus for winning three, 100-point bonus for winning four. For top-10 finishes on the PGA TOUR’s official money list and scoring average list, the point value is: first, 20 points, then 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2. Any incomplete rounds in the scoring average list will result in a .10 penalty per incomplete round.

PGA TOUR Awards (cont.) Payne Stewart Award The award is named for Payne Stewart, an 11-time winner on the PGA TOUR, including three major championships. Stewart died the week of THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola in 1999. The award was created by the PGA TOUR Policy Board to perpetuate Stewart’s memory. It is presented annually at THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola to a player sharing Stewart’s respect for the traditions of the game, his commitment to uphold the game’s heritage of charitable support and the professional and meticulous presentation of himself and the sport through his dress and conduct. In addition to a sculpture presented to the recipient, the Payne Stewart Award is accompanied by an annual Payne Stewart Award Grant presented by Southern Company. The $300,000 grant will support several initiatives in Stewart’s name to be distributed as follows: $100,000 to Payne and Tracey Stewart’s primary charity, The Stewart Family
