KIRSTEN M. BERG

I am a Graphic Designer with 29 years of experience in marketing, home décor and print media industries. I have creative and design skills that would make an excellent addition to your graphics or marketing department as a Designer, Production Artist or Illustrator. My skills include graphic design, digital image manipulation, illustration, painting and drawing. I have excellent project management, customer service, communication and listening skills. I am eager to learn new programs and skills.

PROGRAMS

I am proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign and have also worked in Dreamweaver, MS PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. I have learned many different programs over the years and look forward to continue that learning. I have also used AS400 for data entry and website maintenance. All of my experience is on the Mac, but I am willing to learn different platforms and programs as needed.

Art Brand Studios manages and licenses art by Thomas Kinkade Studios, which includes images painted by the studio artists for Disney®, Marvel®, Lucasfilm® and more famous brands. Art Brand Studios merged with my employer Wild Wings about 5 years ago. Wild Wings represents, publishes and licenses the images of well-known wildlife artists such as Terry Redlin, Rosemary Millette, and David A. Maass.

In my most recent position I designed home décor products such as coffee mugs, wall art, pillows and more, showcasing the images provided by the company. Besides designing the product itself, I designed the package label in many cases, laid out presentations for the sales team and when the final product was completed, I loaded it onto our e-commerce website for sale, which entailed data entry and copy writing. I worked with my team to meet deadlines and helped manage projects from a technical point of view giving advice on such matters as color matching, design and file quality.

I also had the gratifying experience to design fundraising products and collateral materials for the many conservation groups that the Wild Wings branch of the company works with. I’m proud to have helped them raise millions of dollars for conservation groups like Ducks Unlimited, Whitetails Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and many more.

Sculpted Mugs:

One of our best selling categories for over 10 years, these mugs presented a fun, creative challenge. The biggest challenge was fitting my ideas into the targeted price point. Most of the cost was in the number of glaze colors on the handle. Made in China.

“Stained” Glass:

I was asked to develop a technique to visually transform our images into a “stained glass” appearance. Using various Photoshop filters I was able to achieve this look, and the public seemed to love it. It’s been another one of our best selling categories for at least 5 years.

Decorative Signs:

I was tasked with the creation of decorative signs to add to Wild Wings’ wall décor collection. This involved creative use of existing images paired with rustic backgrounds and catchy, inviting, or educational copywriting.

Collateral Material

I was originally hired by Wild Wings in 1998 for catalog and printed material work. I did only this for years, until my boss decided to push me into product development. I accepted and relished the creative opportunity. Below is my latest catalog. I created the catalog as well as designed most of the products within it.

Original Art

I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts (BFA) in Painting and Drawing. I occasionally do commissions for family and pet portraits. Shown here are also some of my more abstract pieces done in oil on canvas. I have been concentrating mostly on watercolors in the last years. See Hope on previous page for an example of my watercolor work.

I had done this to express my home sickness while on semester abroad in Spain. Even though the amazing experience of European travels was trying to shine through, in my phyche something just wasn’t quite right. I tried to show that loneliness surrounded by foreign beauty.

Windows Abstract III

In this piece I am remembering the interior of my grandparent’s farm house out on the prairie in western Minnesota. They have long passed and I have always longed to go back to that house. It was a place of happiness now clouded with grief at their loss.
