Club Fish Club Development Programme

What is it? The Club Fish programme has been established to support affiliated clubs, commercial fisheries and associations to increase weekly participation amongst their core adult members and customer base. The Angling Trust wants to help angling clubs and fisheries not only increase membership levels but also engage existing members more regularly. The programme will see clubs run 4, six week programmes. These programmes could be; a match programme; coaching sessions; or species specific sessions, anything that utilises your club’s strengths. Next Steps; 1. Complete the attached application form & conduct club/ fishery audit. 2. Meet with Angling Trust Regional Officer to produce and plan a bespoke 12 month development plan identifying the 4, 6 week programmes 3. Identify training and additional resources required 4. Deliver programmes 5. Record the success!

Example Winter Pike Fishing Programme What we did: An 6 week introductory Pike fishing coaching programme looking at all aspects of fishing for pike including rigs, safe handling, equipment & watercraft. Targeting existing anglers, the programme was a mix of bankside and indoor sessions focusing on both technical and practical elements Partners:  Pike Anglers Club (PAC) - provided volunteers & promotional support  Leicestershire & Rutland Sport (County Sport Partnership) - provided some funding to run the programme  Loughborough Soar AS - provided the venue (River Soar) Key considerations: Short, morning sessions worked well; the indoor ‘technical’ element was very well received; remember you are dealing with existing anglers so what would you find useful?
