JOB PURPOSE: The Activator will be responsible for growing participation in running through developing and supporting participation leaders and groups To act as a lead in Swindon and Wiltshire, working in partnership with Wiltshire Council, Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire and Swindon Sport, to deliver the Swindon and Wiltshire Recreational Plan. KEY TASKS:
To assist in the delivery and development of England Athletics vision and objectives, including the Swindon and Wiltshire Recreational Running Plan To provide support and guidance for existing groups, working with leaders and groups to sustain activity and increase opportunities for new runners To identify and recruit potential leaders and support them in setting up Run England groups To support, manage and monitor leaders and groups in collating new runner registrations through the England Athletics portal. To act as a motivator and guide to new and existing leaders and coaches, explaining CRB and licence procedures and providing guidance on marketing and launching a new group To be an active leader, trained in Leadership in Running & Fitness To actively advertise and promote Leadership in Running & Fitness courses, following up attendees To attend local events to promote England Athletics participation products To attend regular Area Team meetings To communicate with relevant partners regarding run leader volunteer information and training
To provide support and linkage to the Swindon and Wiltshire AthleFIT programmes
To provide quarterly participation reports to local where required
To promote the setting up 321 routes
To develop existing working relationships with nominated national partners To continually promote and market England Athletics attracting support and sponsorship To pushing media stories to the communications department at England Athletics To promote the beginner runner to club pathway through links to through the Wiltshire Athletics Network and Wiltshire Athletics Association To carry out any other duties deemed reasonable at the time To ensure the confidentiality of the affairs of England Athletics’ business

Essential Experience of planning & supporting a range of programmes and activities Experience of recruitment and management of volunteers Understanding of the need for physical activity and the benefits of running Experience of planning and managing own workload. Knowledge of Run England & Athlefit Experience of increasing adult participation in sport Driving Licence Good IT skills including use of Microsoft Office, email and internet Leadership in Running Fitness or one of it’s predecessors (Fitness in Running and Walking, Jog England)
A passion for providing running for all Organisational and administrative skills Able to use own initiative, and be self motivating Ability to motivate others Good team player with the ability to lead Highly professional interpersonal skills Willingness to learn Flexible and adaptable to change as work demands Excellent verbal and written communication skills
