geektable Hi there, I’m Kirsty.
The Brief
The Concept
The Design
To work as part of a collaboration with Kirsty A, Sarah, Claudia, Beth, Baljeet, Lisa and Sophie, also known as The Geek Table. We will be given Geek names based on our specialism and design briefs that will allow us all to work to the same concept but use our specialism to design the outcome.
We are known as The Geek Table because we are total Geeks, we talk about Harry Potter and Doctor Who and are always ahead with work. We will be completing 4 briefs over a period of four weeks and the concept of the briefs will be agreed and set by us all.
The Geek Table logo was designed by Beth and I designed the Geek glasses. Beth has also created illustrations of each Geek which have been used as part of the Geek Table newspaper that Claudia and Baljeet have made. Claudia and Baljeet have also designed business cards for the Geek Table which we can hand out to people to link to Twitter and Cargo.

Working so I won’t have to try so hard. The Strokes
Hi there, I’m Kirsty.
My Geek name is Paper Crafting and Packaging Geek. This is because I have a passion for making things and cutting things out free hand and I also love packaging. These two briefs have been hand cut out to show my Geek skill. The aim of The Geek Table brief is to develop our individual Geek skills and celebrate what we are good at.
Brief One
Brief Two
Brief One: to design something that reflected on something we did to procrastinate and then design it using our skill. I have an obsession with Origami and its what I do to procrastinate. I have drawn an Origami Crane that will be cut out. The skill will be paper crafting as I have done it by hand.
Brief Two: to design something that reflected us ‘getting in the zone’ when doing Graphic Design. The concept behind my design was music, in particular a song by The Strokes called Someday. It is a song that really motivates me because of the lyrics ‘Working so I won’t have to try so hard’. It means that all this hard work I am doing now will pay off in the future, then I won’t have to try so hard. The Geek Table restriction was we had to use Orange.

HOUSE wife
At the altar, ego
Hi there, I’m Kirsty.
Brief Three
Brief Four:
Brief Three: to design a piece of work using our Geek skill based on the concept of Guilty Pleasure. I have designed a Cadbury chocolate bar that plays on the type on the packaging. Chocolate is my Guilty Pleasure and I love packaging, so I combined the two.
Brief Four: to design something that showed our Alter ego. My Alter Ego would be a House Wife, I love looking after my Boyfriend and cleaning up. I have played on the words ‘Alter Ego’ and changed it to ‘At the altar, ego’ to show that when I reach the altar on my wedding day, I will then become my Alter Ego of a House Wife.
