PROJECT NAME : SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE SEMESTER : 8th DESCRIPTION : The project included design of the academic building as well as hostels and residential quarters for staff. It helped enhance many practical aspects related to university buildings and services involved while designing a site. DESIGN A School of Architecture for 160 UG students and 60 PG students. MY INTENT Was to club the fun and work environment together so as to evoke creative thinking at all times. HERE I HAVE designed clever interaction and discussion spaces, for architecture students, not only with the faculty but significant seniors and juniors as well. The design studios have been placed so as to receive maximum north light best suitable for studio working.

Sunken courtyards and covered entry way have been provided in the front. This brings daylight further into the ground floor and the library and creates quite outdoor gathering spaces that can be used as art courts at lower level,

North facing sawtooth skylights have been incorporated on the terrace at each level bringing a lot of light to the interiors and reducing energy consumptions. Furthermore the green cover on the terrace creates good recreational space and soothing environment for students.

ACADEMIC BLOCK

It is a barrier free design. •Separation of spaces as per user is beneficial in such a way that student areas can function even after school hours are over and the faculty or admin staff has retired for the day. Recreational and interaction zones induce creativity and friendly competition.

STUDIO BAR ROTATED ABOUT A HINGE TO CREATE TERRACES MANIPULATIVE GROUND PLANE

There is easy access for specially abled people as well in the library. It is designed with play of different levels to get as much natural light as possible during the day from the sunken courtyard in the front

Design studios have skylights providing natural north light. The PG section is on the second floor. A reference section has been designed in close proximity to the design studios and classrooms.

Discussion spaces are designed for student teacher interaction..

The staircase is an integral part of the design that completes the main motto of increased interaction between students of all years while separating the studios for each year.

PROJECT NAME : 100 BEDED HOSPITAL at PATNA SEMESTER : 7th DESCRIPTION : The project was a great opportunity to explore the designs of healthcare buildings. Provision of dirty corridors, exchange of supplies and movement of public, patient and doctor are very important alongside delivering a soothing environment for patients of all age groups. DESIGN Patna

A 100 beded Hospital at

MY INTENT Was to create a clear circulation and easy access system to and from the point one enters the site. Single welcoming image creates easy way finding. HERE I HAVE provided straight corridors for better visibility to avoid confusion between different traffic. Therapeutic gardens at different levels for creating a powerful and energizing environment for fast recovery of patients. Separation of departments vertically and horizontally as per their relation and proximity.

 The orientation of the building is north east.

 Service yard placed on the south west part of the site includes kitchen, laundry, morgue and storage. Serves well to all departments and is well connected via service core.

SERVICE YARD

Preferable wind and sun direction. A modern healthcare facility requires multiple entrances for emergency department, main patient entrance, ambulance entrance and entrance for service block.

EMERGENCY ENTRANCE

 Special considerations to identify vehicle free and intensive zones.

OPD ENTRANCE

Single welcoming images promotes easy way finding, all entrances visible from the [point one enters the site. Emergency department drop off on the south die shred both by staff and ambulances.

MAIN ENTRANCE

Such access is often at odds with urban planning trends, which attempt to minimize the impact of vehicular transportation in favor of more pedestrian orbited buildings.

CREATING OPTIMAL ENVIRONMENT

HEALING

The philosophy is grounded in the idea that gardens can engage the mind, body, spirit and emotions within a deep experience of the natural environment.

Therapeutic gardens in healthcare facilities helps reduce stress and anxiety.

NATURE HEALS VERTICAL STACKING Emergency and radio diagnostics stacked side by side as they work together. Roof gardens to verve as upper level retreat for ICU and VIP lounge. Service core placed at required distances and in clear visions. The administration department will have private access only to staff and doctors. Laboratories are all placed next to the radio diagnostics on the first floor alongside Out patient department.

The roof garden itself is a key sustainable design element in that it minimizez the buildings heat island effect, reduces demand on storm water systems, improves air quality and reduces noise pollution.

The hospital building has three entrances for emergency, OPD and one main entrance. Natural light in all rooms for doctors and patients as well. Straight wide corridors to avoid traffic. Clear segregation of departments according to their required proximity. Administration area is directly accessible through the reception area but still segregated being on the first floor with only staff access.

The therapeutic gardens at different levels provide fresh air inside and create a cool ambience. They are a part of the concept of patients fast and better healing through nature. There are 4 bed lifts and 4 public patients lifts. Dirty corridor has been provided near the operation theatre region. Ramp at all level with direct access from outside.

All the wards are placed on the top most floors. Windows of the wards have good views at scenic beauty around the hospital. Dirty corridors and bio waste lifts has been designed to keep the waste and infection away from patients axis.

MY INTENT Was to provide a circulation system that integrates different activities as a whole and provides better visual administration over students. HERE I HAVE separated the senior and junior wings for safety of small children with proper interaction spaces and sports facilities on the site for students and visual connectivity along the two major axis. The design is evolved keeping in mind the circulation of students from entrance to academic block to other facilities on the site.

DESIGN A Restaurant cum Bar at Rajgir comprising of a banquet hall for 50 people MY INTENT Was to create a soothing ambience for the diners with clever separation of spaces. HERE I HAVE created a separation using double jaali walls with a water element in between to create a cool ambience inside which acts as a barrier as well as provides a partial view of the whole restaurant from the reception. There is also a provision for an open sitting area with an outdoor mocktail bar amidst the beautiful view of the hilly range.

The restaurant has a lot of jaali works and stone work including the elevation to inspired by various forts and heritage buildings present at Rajgir.

The open sitting area has 5 private spaces for families separated by 3 feet high stone work jaali connected functionally via the kitchen, washrooms and mocktail bar in the centre.

The double jaali walls provide partial view to full interiors from outside, separating the reception and creating cool ambience inside due to plantation in between.
