We Need Your Help! Year 8 students are hoping to begin recycling the waste paper produced at school as their community connections project. We want to make ‘paper bricks’ that can be used as fuel for cooking fires. We are hoping that you can help. Here are some of the ways you can help: • We need to make brick presses. Currently we have one! If you have any metal plates, cylinders etc that you think could be made into a brick press please bring it in to the science department. The metal usually need to have holes in it so that we can squeeze the water out. Yr 9 are going to be designing and trying to build brick presses over the next week as part of their science class. • If you have any old plastic paint buckets or other buckets you are not using we would love to have them to mix our paper and water in. If you have any ideas that might help us do this please contact me. Thank you, Yvonne Edwards, Science Teacher
IMPORTANT REMINDER Year 10 to 13 students will have examinations from Thursday January 14th to Wednesday January 20th. Year 10 students have 3 formal examinations and will otherwise attend their scheduled classes during this period. Over the Christmas break students are expected to prepare for this January examination session. Early next week we will distribute to students a guide titled Approach to Study Leave to give guidance to students on planning a study timetable, and strategies for approaching the study time itself. The school will e-mail a copy of this document to you.
