Dear KISC Community A new academic year has begun with promises and hopes of great learning, fun, friendships, challenges and growth. A warm welcome to all new students, staff and families. Welcome back to everyone else. We have about 55 new students, 44 new families and 25 new and returning staff becoming a part of the KISC fabric this year. This makes us a community of around 1000 individuals. At KISC, we strive to be a community that encourages each other, shares good news and spurs one another on to love and good deeds (Hebrews 10 V 23-25). This term the focus is on being a spiritual community. Together we will explore how we, as a community, can be living witnesses of God’s love to positively impact our world. Together we will seek to reflect the character of God in the way we live. We will pour out His life through ours towards others, however they treat us. God created us to operate as the body of Christ - to be as one and to restore goodness on earth. Unity, not uniformity, is integral in any community. Unity is created by love for one another. Love forgives quickly and keeps no record of wrongs. Therefore, let us help each other forgive quickly and love each other well to gain the unity that Jesus prayed for us in John 17. May CommUnity be evident this term to show the love and unity of father God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Blessings, Judith Ellis

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. HEBREWS 10 V 23-25

MSA VISIT 2013 Middle States Association (MSA) is our accreditation organization in the United States. We are preparing for an accreditation visit 25-28 November. We have an accreditation visit every 7 years. The MSA inspection is a time for us, as a community, to reflect on how we are doing and growing. Below is a notice if you wish to send in any further comments about KISC to MSA.

OUR IDENTITY KISC students and staff recently explored their identity through creating personal identity shields. The shields reflected what we are passionate about, how we see ourselves and our likes and strengths. Here are some examples of our handy work.

Abby Knoble, Yr 12

Laura Reid, Yr 9 Alyssa Pokharel, Yr 5

Paul Collins, Yr 3

Joel Heming, Yr 8

Josiah Garrett, Yr 2 Lucy Chadwell, Yr 7

Libby Hayes, Secondary Principal

Ben Sheahan, Yr 2 Teacher

Congratulations to the staff and students for another set of great IGCSE and AS/A level results. We have 100% pass for IGCSE and AS/A levels. 88% A-C’s at IGCSE level puts us in the top school results brackets for British schools worldwide. Keep up the great work everyone!

STAFF WELCOMES We would like to welcome the following new staff to the KISC community: • • • • • • •

PRATIKSHA RAWLINGS, Communication Officer SMRITI RAI, Nepali Teacher LEEMA SHRESTHA, Year 1 Teaching Assistant ANUP GURUNG, Relief Person SHANTI TREESE, Year 1 Teacher NANCY FRALEY, Year 3 Teacher (am) CHRISTINE SOLOMON, HOF English and History Teacher. A big thank you to Christine Stone and Libby Hayes for covering her classes.

SITE UPDATE Progress on the site is steady but sure. The monsoon weather is causing some delays with construction but we hope to be on target to use the majority of the site by term 2. Use of the play field will probably be from term 3 to allow for the planted grass to root and grow. The steel work for the basketball court roof will be going up soon, followed by the concreting of the floor. Thank you for continuing to park your bikes or motorbikes on the recently paved area near the main gate on the new site. Please ensure that you do not go through the buildings site to get to KISC. Please go back out through the main gate and up the main lane to the school. We appreciate it does take a little longer to walk to school but there are real dangers walking across the construction site.

PTA NOTES Thank you all for joining us in parents and staff prayer meeting at the beginning of this academic year. It was great to start the new year with prayer and worship. Please find the names of those involved in the PTA on the right. Feel free to approach us when you have questions or if you would like to get to know other parents. Most of our photos can be found on the wall entering the KISC hall, to make it easier for you to identify us. - Warm greetings from the PTA.
