SURF
A/W14 sees our Surf boys clean up their act, paring down to a minimalist colour palette with subtle stonewashes to offset the clean black, white, greys, blues, and khakis. Off the success of the denim vest from S/S, we roll over into Autumn and introduce our new trans-seasonal counterpart, the puffer vest. Both vest styles can be teamed with a hoodie underneath to carry on into Winter. Denim continues to dominate outerwear, and even moreso for this season. We see denim shirting in various combinations of hooded and unhooded, clean, acid-, or stonewash dropping in stores from April to lead in to our heavier weight denim jackets. To keep our surfer looking crisp for his day job or date night, long-sleeve shirting is updated with panelling and clean prints, with tight checks rounding off his wardrobe for those days off. Bottoms continue to remain skinny or slim in denim for this look. Outerwear is kept simple - whether it’s a denim jacket or anorak, it’s all about the fabrication and silhouette - no obvious branding here! Heavier weight outwear will begin to drop Mid-May to see us covered for Winter. Leather detailing finishes off our accessories offering this season for a polished touch. Backpacks from Billabong, Lucid, and Quiksilver combine minimalism with functionality, and we’re also seeing an expanded offering in simple lightweight beanies from key brands. Footwear of choice is a classic pair of Converse or Vans. With about 50% of our total menswear buy in this department, whether our surfer is on the beach or the streets, we’ve got him covered this season. *Due to Insight going into receivership last year, we will not be stocking any product for A/W14. However, we are working closely with their parent company Bleach Group and new financial backers Breakwater Investment Management to bring lines back in stores for S/S15. We are excited about supporting this Aussie label and getting it back on its feet, so stay tuned!

SKATE
As the leaves start to change, our skatewear follows suit, with Vans, Element, Obey, and Yuki Threads showing off their earth tones, navys, and darks for A/W14. Our trans-seasonal hero, the puffer vest, marks the beginning of our Autumn drop, with styles coming in from Element, Vans, and Yuki Threads. Perfect layered with this season’s key trend - the printed sleeve top. We see this trend rolling across various fabrications and silhouettes, starting with cotton tees and heading into the realm of pullovers and hoodies for Winter. Expect a large drop of the pullover-hoodie this season, most styles coming with kangaroo pockets for utility and style. Our key buys for outerwear are the coach or spray jacket for trans-seasonal layering (offerings from Nike SB and Obey to begin), following through with heavier weight anoraks in earth tones. Graphic prints remain big for our skater, but are now worn sparingly as statement pieces under jackets and puffers, which remain clean, or peeking out on socks - expect a large drop of printed socks from Vans (Stance socks coming next season!) In footwear, we see Vans and Nike SB jumping from strength to strength, and have bought more units in core styles and colourways, with seasonal colours rounding out this look. For A/W14, our threads will keep our skater on the grind.

STREET
Our Street guy stands by his brands and wears this proudly on his chest. Following on from large logo applique tees from S/S, this style is replicated in pullovers, hoodies, and trackpants for A/W. The key colour palette darkens to almost exclusively monochrome black, grey, and white for outerwear, with transeasonal pieces such as the hooded flanno offering pops of red and blue to break up this look. Outerwear channels the biker aesthetic with leather-look jackets and marle hooding from Loosekid, Unit, and Jet Pilot. Large, simple checks are seen in shirting, and can be paired back with either logo or graphic tees from key American import brands Dexter, OG Abel, and Famous Stars and Straps. Dickies slim to straight fit pants are the bottoms of choice for the Street look, taking him from day to night. Canvas slip ons or Vans Eras in darker prints and fabrications (think dark grey chambray and checkers) continue to remain relevant for this customer, and a large monochrome beanie completes this look. As Street represents the smallest department for menswear, we have tightened our range but deepend our units to ensure product remains focused and accessible to the customer. For A/W14, our streets have darkened.
