Academic Perspective 2008 - 2009

Kingston University, Kingston Upon Thames: Art & Design Foundation: Merit 2003 - 2008

Bryanston School, Dorset: A Levels: Art A (95%), Product Design A (90%), Physics B (68%). 2010 - 2014

Cardiff University, Wales: BSc in Architecture Studies: Indicated 2:1 Whilst at Cardiff I have been refining my presentation and development skills using CAD program’s such as Google Sketchup, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, AutoCAD and Autodesk 3dsmax Design, including MaxScript. The use of these medias has run alongside other design tools such as model making and drawing to create high-quality, communicative and successful projects. I am also skilled in the use of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader and have experience in laser cutting and web design. ver the years I have had the opportunity to master many different forms of design. Much of my O early focus was on 3d design, both in art and technology, with which I have used multiple medias to present my ideas from clay to wood to metal welding. Along with this I also produced a multitude of sketchbooks and hand drawn studies to explore and develop my ideas. Expanding these skills further in my art & design foundation year with a plethora of projects in fashion, film and again 3d design.

Personal Perspective

My love for architecture is fueled by my love for discovery. During my time off, between university and work, I travel as much as possible to broaden my understanding of architecture and culture around the world, I travel so I can experience. Over the years I have driven a motorbike down South East Asia, worked in Kenya and interailed around Europe. All these adventures I have undertaken on my own and in doing so I have had the opportunity to meet an incredible and diverse set of people, as well as having seen some of the most amazing buildings and scenery. I never shy from a challenge and as well as having a healthy competitive streak academically I have also applied myself in various sports over the years; whilst at secondary school I was a keen rower, competing within the 1st Coxless Four whilst in sixth form, in which we were placed in regattas such as Putney and Henley. I am also a keen horse rider and have spent time training and schooling horses in Kenya. At university I was elected as social secretary for the Architecture Society and have been informed I organised one of the most successful social calendars the society has seen in years. Including the organisation of the Architectural Societies first ever ski trip.

September - August 2012:

Previous Employment

September 2011:

Spencer Architecture Architectural Assistant

Assael Architecture Limited Architectural Assistant

Redbridge House, Upper Clatford, Andover, Hampshire, SP11 7PP

Studio 13, 50 Carnwath Road, London, SW6 3EG

Being a small company I was able to partake in everything the company had to offer. I was invited on site visits to London, did AutoCAD drawings for the electrical and plumbing of affordable housing projects, as well as being given the opportunity to assist in the design of a four bed house from scratch. I also helped to put through a series of discharge notices for a site in a national trust area, learning all about bat licences, highway conditions and meeting facade requirements.

Whilst working with Assael I shadowed one of the design teams, assisting them with completing design schedules, creating Google Sketchup models and refining CAD drawings. My time here was very useful for understanding what it would be like to work within a big practice and some of the pro’s and con’s that come with it.

May - September 2010:

July 2006:

Land and Gardens Landscape Architecture Assistant

SCIN Interior Architecture Assistant

1 Field End, Kingsworthy, Hampshire, SO23

130 Bermondsey Street, London, SE1 3TX

Over the summer I was hired to produce ‘before and after’ CAD drawings of the gardens the company were working on. Using Google Sketchup I created simple scenes and presentation boards for the director, to show the clients what their grounds would look like after the commission.

During a weeks work experience in their London office I was asked to design a display kitchen and downstairs show room to replace the existing one. Working out all measurements, materials and prices, I used their resource library and my own knowledge of materials to design a new and innovative space to show to their clients. Even though this was just for my experience, they decided to use some of my ideas for the final refurbishment.

Caernarfon Kinetic University: WSA Y3: Introduction

With it’s proud welsh heritage, outstanding beauty and accessibility Caernafon is the perfect place to create a new applied arts university and a new heart for the welsh arts. The project’s core is based around the traditional courtyard system of the old ‘red brick’ universities but with a twist... the subject buildings can be expanded and compressed with the use of a series of kinetic facades. The concept is that art is about reality vs imagination, the reality in this case is the traditional building style and the imagination is the modern kinetic engineering. Utilising the train network and light weight cranes the kinetic facade allows for the addition and subtraction of renewable wooden crates onto the facade. However the crates are not only a method of expansion but, feeders and receivers for installations, workshops and all forms of art. They are designed to form a whole new system of volumetric exchange and connection within the arts world. Breaking the limitations and boundaries that have previously held people back. The program includes student accommodation, six subject buildings, a library, student union, large warehouse and park & ride facilities.
