Introduction
My Statement: Architecture, to me, is an art form that should engage and evoke feeling in the people that come in contact with it through their daily activities. It should not be a repetition of common design that is put in place to simply accomodate. —Kevin Brown
My name is Kevin Brown. This is a short bio of myself and my interest in architecture. I have always been interested in designing anything, from houses to high-rise towers. I have recently been more attracted to the more modern and clean lines of some of today’s architecture. My experiences and interest in the field of architecture started around 1988 while taking a drafting class in jr. high school. After that, I made sure to be signed up for every drafting/architecture class that was available to me. My junior and senior year in high school, I took architectural design classes which were two periods long. This was the first experience I had with designing full sets of house plans. I knew that this was what I wanted to pursue as my career. During my senior year, the instructor had opportunities available for
select students to gain some on the job experience. I took the opportunity and got a job with MWC, a civil engineering firm in Fort Smith, AR. Along with drafting experience, I was also able to perform on-site surveying and data collection for the projects. Although this was related experience that I appreciated, it wasn’t what I wanted at the time. I contacted every architect in the phone book, asking if they needed help with anything in their office. Finally, one man showed interest and wanted to look at my hand drawing abilities. Ken Cockram, and architect in Fort Smith, was looking to retire and needed help with some final projects. I helped finish some projects, mainly hotels, until he retired. After high school, I joined the Navy and for the next four and a half years, I lived on the ocean(literally). After having a few jobs and
a broad range of experience I decided, twenty years later, to continue my education and I now have my bachelors degree and can start gaining professional experience. During a trip to Chicago, I was introduced to the architecture of Mies Van Der Rohe and Frank Lloyd Wright, among others of course. I fell in love with these pieces of art and their clean modern design. My goal is to build on my knowledge and experience of the architecture/ engineering relationship in a professional setting. While gaining experience, I will pursue my masters degree in architecture and obtain licensure. Later in my career, I will have my own firm and grant the opportunity for other young architects to gain experience in the field and continue to make art in our cities for everyone to enjoy.

Site plan proposal using textures that are modified using Photoshop and inserted on layers within Illustrator. Lines and buildings layed out in Illustrator were then given textures and/or colors for visual impact. Trees and drop shadow were added to give depth.
The design of this site presentation was to use elements that are based off of a precedent design.
