RE-POSTURE THEATRE Cheung Hing Industrial Building, 12P Smithfield, Kennedy Town, HK 2017
RE-POSTURE INTRODUCTION The location of this project is in the Cheung Hing Industrial Building at 12P Smithfield in Kennedy Town of San Wan. Hong Kong like other vibrant and densely populated urban cities around the world is facing several social economical challenges of living spaces. In addition, the development of the film industry in Hong Kong was also found to have a recession. Thus, the purpose of this project is to solve the problem of living environment in Hong Kong and remind people that development of movie industry cannot be taken lightly.
Building types have a great change in Kennedy Town in recent decades. Here has changed from a garbage city into a liveable city. Some buildings can not avoid the demolition because of the development needs, including a two decades theatre. The phenomenon also shows the decline of the Hong Kong Movie Industry, the number of theatres has decreased from more than 110 to now around 40. People also prefer watching movies at home instead of entering the theatre to watch. Therefore, designing a unique cinema has been decided for the purpose of attracting more people to the cinema to watch the film.
DESIGN CONCEPT Re-Posture is a forward-looking theatre, which abandons the t r a d i t i o n a l c i n e m a f i x e d c h a i r, providing an unrestricted space for people to experience freely. In addition, encourage people not to sit and watch the movie, instead of a more comfortable posture - lying, or even a more laborious posture standing. The main design elements of this theatre are derived from the dynamic and static posture of people. Through various of hook line of the human posture to form the complex pattern, which is made as transparency and translucency, giving a sense of infinity repeating. By simplification of posture, reduce from the three-dimensional to the plane, and then to a line. And then randomly combine these lines to form a complex pattern and structure. Challenge the general views of minimalism. In addition to light and simple style, minimalism can make the complex and interesting designs as well.

REASONS TO BUILD
TEENAGER’S OBSTACLES
REASON TO BUILD TIME
In addition to home, they need a space where is free time to work.
SPACE
MONEY Hong Kong is a city with a very high inflation, so many teenager have lack of fund.
Because of lack of land, they have not enough space for working and living.
REASON 02
REASON 01
EXPERIENCE
REASON 03
EDUCATION
PARTNERSHIP It is difficult for them to find a group of partners with common ideas of starting a business.
ZONE-LAND INTRODUCTION
TARGET The target is fresh graduated of Interior and Architecture design. Compared to other industries, interior and architectural design entrepreneurs need this place more. If a fresh graduated of this industry wanna start the business, the working experiences and popularity is essential for them. By contrast, these not too necessary for the other industries such as Retail, Catering Service and Technology Services Industry. The following diagrams show the young teenager's needs, and design direction of this building.
For the fresh graduated entrepreneurs, they are not enough working experience.
Customers will not give them work because they are low popularity.
BENIFITS IN THIS PLACE BENIFITS OF THIS PLACE
Location of this project is Central Market of Hong Kong. The serious shortage of land has always been a problem that Hong Kong people are facing. This project focuses on reimagining the possibility of creating a lively community of co-working and co-living spaces for young entrepreneurs and startups in Central, Hong Kong.
EXPERIENCE
POPULARITY
Young designer will have opportunities to work as a team and take charge in different jobs.
They can gain experience through practises. The experience in running a company or understanding the process of a job.
We train them into unique. People will trust the abilities of each participators when they start up a firm outside.
They can make friends with more young designers which have similar goals or ages.
School are focusing on score more than career counselling, student are not ready to work after graduation.
Their workspace and sleep space are close and they can work anytime they like.
It saves the time on transportation. People can spend more time on work or rest.
The employability of fresh graduate are low, they have no experience and they know less about the career. All the information are come from peer.
School didn't help much about the career plan. Student need extra education to fulfil future need.
CONCEPT STATEMENT The idea comes from people's activities in the park. In open space of the park, we can easily see people picnicking, or play a friendly game, or doing exercise, or just sit on the ground and take a rest. They do not affect each other. It proved every area of the park is suitable for people to do anything freely. To compare with normal office, park obviously is more interesting and suitable for work. Most of the office is standardized and boring. Thur, I want to create a free working environment that is able both work-alone and have fun. I divided the office into three main areas: entertainment, relaxation and workplace, to study the relationship between spaces.

ARTWORK STUDY The inspiration of ‘Connection Between Landscape and Industry’ comes from ‘Fair and Clear II’ by Yuan Jai. Use abstract methods to bring out the relationship between nature and industrial development.
Yuan Jai (Taiwanese, born China, 1941, lives and works in Hsinchu) Fair and Clear II Yuan Jai’s painting career began to flourish while she worked as a conservator at Taipei's National Palace Museum, a post she held for more than thirty years. Different from most ink painters of her generation, Yuan creates playful and exuberant works, exploring the intersections between material culture, classical paintings, and daily experiences. In this painting, she transforms bundles of fabric and swirls of ribbon, which usually play supporting roles in Chinese figurative painting, into pink peonies, a traditional symbol of prosperity in Chinese visual culture.

ABSCOND AQUARIUM Chengdu Shopping Centre, Chengdu, China 2016
ABSCOND PROJECT BRIEF
This project is aimed to design an aquarium inside the shopping center in Chengdu in pursuits of having a special experience on the ocean to the visitors. When it comes to an aquarium, it is interrelated closely to the ocean. The ideas come to our mind will be our feeling and experience in the ocean with our sense of vision and touch. After our discussion, the power of penetration is selected as the best among all the elements to express our ocean. and also becoming our major design concept and direction to create our aquarium in order to achieve our goals. The definition of penetration is available for substances or space having interaction and integration by physically and visually. It is a crucial element to demonstrate the traits of the ocean when having a comparison with the land. Solid partitions, walls, and barriers may not be selected in our aquarium for the purpose of being unobstructed and higher openness to a physical space. Furthermore, glasses as a material also possessing the similar features as well as ocean which having a higher penetrability. As a result, we will further our design by considering the materials, physical and visual perspectives with the higher penetrability to express our own views on the ocean.
Site analysis
How visitors circulate through mall determines what visitors will learn and experience, where they focus their attention, and what they play. For this reason, site analysis has been done in order to understand the site how to affect people traffic. If we are able to understand the circulation of the malls, it is easier to create a different theme in the mall. Finally, guiding our guest receive the information that we provide in inadvertently way without any abrupt or odd feeling. Therefore, the method to change the circulation has been done. In fact, there are 4 ways to change the circulation and they are: 1. Guidance method 2. Additional method 3. Implode method 4. Dispersion method

Original Mall Circulation Diagram Main Flow This diagram showing the main flow in the shopping mall. Form the diagram, it mentions that there are 3 main ways of people and they are from left and right. However, the main entrance is from the right side (Blue path) so focus on the left side is more important than the right side. Moreover, people walking path is unpredictable. They can go anywhere they want but it’s just a minority case. The majority case can be predictable as the diagram show. Base on the analysis of circulation, it provides a clean information to the designer to plan the design. Besides, the original mall diagram also mentions there have a lot of structural columns set in the mall. It will be a challenge to designer since the structural column cannot remove and it will block the view to the guest. In a words, there have few findings in the mall diagram. 1. Customs majority from the left entrance and minority from the right entrance. 2. The predictable path show as shown 3. Structural columns should be concern when designer going to design or put something in 4. Researching the different method to change the human's circulation is must
Usage
High
Circulation Usage of Human Traffic This is a diagram to analysis the loading of human traffic. Base on the analysis from the left side, the predictable path showing that the center of the shopping mall is the highest loading place of the shopping mall. Every cloud has a silver lining. High rates area means more people will walk through and it’s easier to make people receive the information that we provided. However, it also generates an unnecessary that peoples may jam in the center when they looking for something interesting. The designer should concern more about the human traffic and make sure they will not jam together. For this reason, the research change the human's circulation has been done and it found that there have 4 different way to change to humans flow.

Guidance method man using addiction wall to guide the customer go where they need to go. For example, the directive has been marked on the wall, the customer knows where they are going. Therefore, the addition wall is not only provided instruction to the customer but also limiting the accessible areas to the customer. It makes the mall manager more easy to control the human flow and set up something goods. However, the guest does not get too much freedom to decide where they need to go.
Additional method adding temporary build thing to the original circulation. It contains few benefit. First, the human circulation will not be affected. Secondly, it can avoid generating unnecessary and unpredictable human path. However, it is a passive way to provide information because people will not affect the additional thing and it just like an advertisement on the street.
Implode method means to block any unnecessary way and left the only way to the end. The most advantage of implode method is it forces people to go to the area we want they go. However, it almost doesn’t give any freedom to the guest to choose where they want to go. The lower degree of freedom is one of the biggest disadvantages, it may let peoples feel boring.
Dispersion method means to create a lot of bifurcation to disperse peoples. It brings two benefits and one feeble. For the benefits, it is easy to evacuate peoples which means people will lower opportunity to jam together. Moreover, more information can be added to the small partition. Information can be shown in maximally way.
Pros: - Will not change the original circulation and it make circulation more easy to control - Will not change the original circulation and it make circulation more easy to control
Pros: - Force everyone goes to the information point - Extremely easy to control people
However, it also generates a lot of different paths and it is unpredictable because people don’t think how they walk will affect the circulation. They may follow the path and turn around Suddenly.
Cons: - Extremely low degree of freedom - Only one way to guide people - When people feel boring, it may lose people
Pros: - Huge information can be provide - Extremely to disperse peoples.
pros - Have a clear direction to customer - Have a guided way with hidden force - Lead people to somewhere directly
Circulation change method 4
Cons Lower degree of freedom
Cons: - Like an advertisement - Passive way to provide information to guest - Penetrating feeling weak

Interactive Technology There are two interactive technologies included in this area which are Augmented Reality and RFID respectively.
AR
is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory input. The guest can use their smartphone to see the status of the digital fish in needs, then dodge the pursue and attack.
Development Since this is a place on the Bathypelagial zone, the flooring designed by the concept of sea floor. There are three methods:
Box - The huge amount of different
levelling boxes form a randomly space to present the irregular of sea floor. The cons is the box does not a natural shape.
RFID uses electromagnetic fields to
automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. The tags stick on the guests’ shoes, then the digital floor would detect their location and give the signal to them.
Little Hill - As sea floor contains
many different sized rock, the rocks became the hill when the mud precipitation and cover on that. The cons is the floor does not user-friendly for people walking upon.
Smooth - To learned from the
above methods mentioned, this form was designed more natural and userfriendly. Meanwhile, the flooring like that can enhance the difficulty of the game and more interesting.
