Biologically speaking, gender ratios are about half-and-half; fair game you would say, right? Of course, there is a lot more to it than just “boy or girl.

The Year of the Beavs By Corinne Walters This year’s District Leadership Convention was in none other than the best college town in the Pac-12: Corvallis, Oregon. The Theta Chapter of KKPsi decided to go all in and host the 2018 DLC. This meant welcoming close to 200 brothers and sisters from all around the Western District into our homes and onto our campus. As the host chapter, we had to do all of the organization both before the weekend and after. This meant not attending every workshop and not getting to fully relax during breaks. Despite the business of hosting, we got to experience many wonderful things throughout the weekend. A few members in Theta got to go with Tau Beta Sigma sisters to their service event at a retirement home here in Corvallis. The group of 20 sisters played a handful of pieces and one sister even danced with one of the residents! It was touching to see the group connect with and serve the older generation. It was also a crucial reminder of why we exist as a chapter: to not only serve the band programs at our respective universities but to bring our passion for music to everyone around us.

Theta Camping Trip By Alder Kool Our annual camping trip took place this past weekend, with 24 brothers in attendance. This year we stayed at Yukwah campground, where we were in the forest and within walking distance from a roaring creek. Brothers could often be found by the creek either skipping stones or throwing them in and trying to make the biggest splash. A few of our brothers braved the icy waters, and it was quite refreshing! We also played many board and card games, Dungeons and Dragons, and “Cops and Robbers.” The food was amazing, with pancakes for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch and hotdogs and burgers for dinner. S’mores were of course for dessert, but we also made banana boats. I loved camping this year, we definitely bonded more as a chapter and I will cherish these memories I made this weekend.
