Send Your New 7th Grade Grizzly to Camp! Brixner is a Great Place to Grow
Parents!
Junior high doesn’t have to be scary.
We need you too!
It is fun and exciting! Campers will learn about how we do things at Brixner. They will get to know the school and learn their way around. Junior high is a place to learn new things and meet new people. You start to figure out who you are and who you want to become. Become Part of Our Grizzly Nation!
At Brixner you will not… Get lost - we have lots of people to help you find your way around. Be shoved in a locker - that has never happened! Be another face in the crowd - everyone is a part of our Grizzly Nation!
In 2017 several campers said they loved getting lockers and learning how to open them. No Need to be Nervous! Participate in activities about some of the things that tend to make kids nervous. Learn to open your locker and how to use the cafeteria and find your way around. We will teach you about P.E. classes, plus you will meet some of your new classmates and some of the staff!
Have dinner on us! Parents are invited to have dinner with the campers!
Please plan to check-in at 4:15 PM, get your camp packet, and join your child for dinner. We will provide you with a full schedule when you sign up and pay the fee. After dinner, we will send the kids out to learn about lockers while we share information with you and give you a chance to ask questions you might have for us.
Higher Expectations Lead to Greater Successes! In Parent sessions we will talk about our safety policies, fees, checking grades, staying in touch with teachers, who to talk to in the office, and what we do to encourage, respect, responsibility, safety, and tolerance. Learn about student scheduling and the programs we offer to help them succeed in and out of the classroom.
On Camp Day August 23, 2018 Wear comfortable but school appropriate clothes. You might want to wear sneakers… Bring personal items you need, but remember that you will be carrying them with you the whole time. Please leave your cell phones, iPods, and game systems at home. Pre-registered? Be here between 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM to check in. Need to sign up? A parent needs to bring the camper just before 1 PM and pay the $35 fee. That is when you will get the full schedule. You will pick up your supplies and change into your camp T-shirt when you check in.
Meet Some of Your Teachers You will have an Advisory teacher who will help you figure out everything you need to know about Brixner. Don’t worry! It will all start to make sense. You will have one teacher from each core subject for a whole year.
Learn your way around the school with your new Grizzly as a guide!
Elective classes are a semester long and have both 7th and 8th graders, like Athletic Skills, Choir, Band, Computers, and Yearbook.
We will give you some tips about what we think will help you help your child be more successful in junior high.
Exploratory classes like Outdoor Survival, Archery, Board Games, Foreign Language, Basketball, Drama, Horticulture, and Recreational Games last 6 weeks each.
Win valuable prizes! Win binders, backpacks, and calculators. There will also be certificates good for school fees (total $20 value), P.E. uniforms ($20 value) and Yearbooks ($25 value).
Win all three and save $65!
