PROFOUND AND
TRANSFORMATIONAL
KSI changed my life! I learned how to question ideas, dissect protocol, synthesize theories, listen respectfully, and engage in meaningful conversations. I returned from KSI with a strong understanding of how to establish a collegial and collaborative teacher learning community. As an early-career teacher, I became hyper-aware of the importance of bringing intentionality to all that I am and all that I do. KSI was the most profound professional development opportunity I’ve ever experienced!

Connect and Share As an early career teacher, KSI gave me the space and resources that I needed to reflect on my teaching and the systems that led me to adopt ineffective practices. I was able to connect with many educators at different stages in their careers who served as comrades, guides, and mentors. I left with a wealth of skills and tools that I was eager to share with my colleagues and began using in my classroom right away.

Reflect and Build The Klingenstein Summer Institute has been the most influential professional opportunity in my career so far. The curriculum and the teachers helped me refine my teaching philosophy in a way that is relevant and centered on my students’ growth. I have continued as a teacher in my career because of the examples of expert educators at the institute and the community of talented teachers who were members of my cohort. I continue to build on the skills and understanding of education that I developed at KSI to find effective ways to improve my practice.

Transform and Create My experience at KSI was truly transformative. In particular, the Be Bold final assignment gave me a chance to put into practice everything I learned over the 2 weeks. I synthesized information regarding values, philosophy of education, deep listening, and reflective practice to create a workshop that I led during our opening Middle School Faculty Meeting. It was wonderful to bring my learning back to my school community and collaborate with my colleagues to reflect on our values and pedagogy.
