My thought process involves transition in medium as well as abstraction of concept through iteration.

As a major I found that drawing, in extra detail, the molecules I was studying to be a great way to ingrain the spacial qualities which are directly linked to the function of the molecule.

While working as a researcher in a Bioorganic lab, I became intimately familiar with mechanistic diagrams like this one explaining the synthesis of cholesterol. This is a favorite synthesis of mine due to the complexity that is achieved through the uncontrolled cascading of electrons.
ATP
This is (Adenosine triphosphate), a very important molecule found in all living things. Cleavage of the bond between the second and third phosphate on the far left converts Adenosine TRIphosphate to Adenosine DIphosphate, releasing energy that powers some part of nearly every biochemical pathway in living organisms.

Living in Cuba really brought to my attention the permanence of the built environment. Much of the urban space of prerevolution Cuba has been left unattended to creating unique imagery that reinforces the importance of responsible design. This is a 7km seawall 90 miles from Key West, el MalĂŠcon.

I enjoy sketching with vine . The nature of the medium allows for an uninhibited transfer from mind to paper.

I saw a similar to this somewhere and was very intrigued by the support design. It turned out a lot more comfortable than it looks.

I made this originally as simply as I could for a speedy and cheap build. After finishing it I found the design rather interesting.

This was built as a trial run for a concrete counter top. Concrete is a fun material to work with and creates interesting looking objects with endless possibilities.

These study models explore the concept of threshold. The first two mimic nature to help realize the definition.

The second set attempts to compare the impact of threshold in terms of change in material and change in elevation.

These works are part of the proposal for the final individual project in the career discovery program. The problem was to address the space surrounding Boston’s City Hall. My proposal involved a major change in topography, creating a new site hydrology which incorporated an urban wetland. The formation of the topography also created a new focal point to the site revealing a dramatic view of Boston’s North End, while still maintaining a space for large gatherings. The project duration was two weeks.

By reorienting the drainage of the site toward permeable water catchments, an urban wetland was created in the less circulated portion of the space. This addresses the current lack of drainage on the site.
