Cupro is a type of rayon made from a by-product of cotton production. It is made from the cellulose fibers that are too short to be spun into cotton. Instead these fibers are chemically treated in a closed system and transformed into a super soft yarn with beautiful drape and shine. Mixed with a bit of Mulberry silk, this yarn is perfect for beautiful lightweight tops & accessories.

Knit Picks loves supporting independent designers! Through our IDP program, we offer designers the chance to reach larger audiences on our site and through features in our catalog, emails, and social media. We look for high quality, well written, professional patterns using Knit Picks yarn to be submitted for consideration into the IDP program. Designers retain all rights to their patterns with no exclusivity agreement, and designers also decide the selling price of their pattern, so they have full control of their work in addition to our support.

Wonderfully wooly in 100+ colors, our bestselling Wool of the Andes continues to be a fan favorite since it was introduced in 2010! What makes Peruvian wool so special? Developed by crossing the finest Corriedale and Merino sheep breeds, Peruvian wool is a strong fiber with an excellent softness quotient. We love Wool of the Andes for long lasting sweaters and accessories as well as stunning colorwork projects.

Available in three weights | 100% Peruvian Highland Wool. Sport: $3.79/50g skein - 137 yds. Worsted: $3.79/50g skein - 110 yds. Bulky: $6.99/100g hank - 137 yds.

Wool, one of nature’s most versatile fibers, is naturally sourced from mammals such as sheep. Known for its uncanny ability to withstand a great deal of use, wool boasts antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, while remaining breathable, insulating, cooling, and also water resistant. It’s no wonder we love wool fibers for both garment and home décor projects! Sustainability at its finest. We appreciate wool not only for its softness, but for its many eco-friendly qualities as well.

• Items made with wool typically have longer lifespans than textiles made with other fibers.

• Sheep are part of the Earth’s natural carbon cycle. They subsist on plants, consuming the organic carbon contained within and converting it to wool.

• Shearing sheep keeps the flock happy and healthy. Removing excess wool is essential to keep them cool during warmer months and prevent health issues caused by heavy, matted coats.

• Wool textile products tend to be washed less frequently and at colder temperatures, resulting in a lower environmental impact.

• Best of all: It’s 100% biodegradable. *New colors. Shown in worsted weight,.
