Spyderco MADE TO USE the forty-year-old spyderco is inseparable from the pocket knife world. the blades with the famous opening hole are made of some of the best steels known to man. with most of the designs from spyderco the focus is on the ergonomics, ease of use and originality, which we appreciate.
I
n 1976, Sal and Gail Glesser founded the Spyderco brand. Their first product was not a pocket knife, but a sharpening system: the Tri-Angle Sharp maker.
In a converted mini-van with a Volkswagen Beetle in tow, the two entrepreneurs travelled across the US from fair to fair to sell their sharpening system. Although the product was received well, Spyderco didn’t achieve their biggest success until they began to focus on pocket knives. The first model was the C01 Worker from 1981 which had 2 revolutionary traits. This knife was
the first pocket knife with a clip, and the first with an opening hole for one-handed operation. Indeed, an innovation that has changed the pocket knife world.
Focus is on the ergonomics, ease of use and originality, which we appreciate. Spyderco has since gathered an impressive portfolio of patents, trademarks, collaborations and awards, without ever losing sight of their beloved public. And that's the hole truth.

THE RIGHT SHARPENING ANGLE Sounds very difficult and complicated, but it is not. Of course, there are tools that can help with sharpening angles, like sharpening guides, which are very useful. But the freedom that comes from sharpening unassisted can be liberating.
1.
3.
Mark the edge of the knife with a permanent marker. A ordinary marker will wipe right off when contacting the water or oil soaked stones.
Start the real work with a coarse grinding stone – with low grain size – and go up incrementally. Once you are happy with your angle start with the coarse sharpening stone, and go up incrementally to polish the edge.
2. At first, take a fine grit sharpening stone and do one pass along the edge. Check the edge to see where the marker has rubbed off and adjust your angle accordingly until most of the marker rubs off in one pass.
6
4. Sharpen the entire length until the mark is totally gone from the very edge (apex) of the knife. Please note that if the marker is not removed from the edge, that area has not been sharpened.
P RO- TIP After a while you can do this by feel. Move the knife over the stone and increase the angle very slowly. When you feel the knife going slightly into the stone, you have the right angle.

FENIX TK47
the fenix tk47 and tk47 ultimate edition (ue) are two new, versatile torches. both torches look exactly the same, but the different leds and reflectors give each torch its own character. the spot light from both torches reveal the differences in their function. The TK47 has a narrow beam that throws the light very far. The small Cree XHP35HILED delivers 1300 lumens and has a range of up to 700 meters thanks to the superreflective cone. The TK47UE has a whopping 3200 lumens at its disposal. Because of the large Cree XHP70-LED and ribbed reflector, you get a broader beam that reaches 408 meters.
However, it gives a broader flood beam than the standard TK47. This makes the UE excel as a powerful all-rounder. The second red/white LED on the back of the torch is perfect for walking, reading and writing. But also signaling or to use as emergency lighting. Looking for the ideal torch? You found it!

t work, in nature, or your friend’s house with those depressingly dull knives, the pocket strops from Skerper will be a handy addition to your sharpening gear for on the go.
The stropping itself is incredibly easy. It is fun to do, and you get a very sharp result that also looks great. Like a barber from the good old days, you strop your knife back and forth across the leather and the result will be razor sharp!
Need a strop with a little more heft for those bigger sharpening jobs? Check out the paddle strop with a comfortable handle and sturdy build to take on any knife!

HDS EDC CUSTOM LED-TORCH What makes good flashlight? The materials used, light output, battery life... I’m curious about all of those specifications. But the most important thing is that it works when you need it the most. That is why I have this EDC Custom from HDS. American-made, popular among flash-a-holics and just insanely well-built.
B
ecause of the design and the diamond-texture, it has a very good grip. The operation of the rotary switch is simple and gives you access to as many as 24 light levels.
The ACME-screw threads are mechanically great for flashlights: much sturdier than regular V-shaped screw threads and ideal for thin flashlight-housings. In addition, they are equipped with O-rings to stop moisture from getting in the lamp.
Crystal-clear lenses with an anti-reflection coating give an even beam at every brightness level, a great benefit when I want to highlight something perfectly. The high-performance LEDs and other components are firmly sealed in the housing. The tolerances are so tight that there is almost no chance of something breaking down. I’m not surprised that HDS offers a lifetime warranty. Superb!

LEATHERMAN SIGNAL
D
By Julien Taix, traditional knife maker uring survival and bushcraft, you want to be prepared for anything without compromising your freedom of movement. With this purpose, Leatherman developed the Signal. Does this multitool fulfill its promise?
I greatly appreciate the ease of using the most important tools. The knife and the pliers are robust and are very comfortable to use. The blade is thick (3.2 mm) and is partially serrated. It is very simple to cut off branches as well as making tinder for a fire without damaging the blade. In addition to a saw and two bits, Leatherman added extra accessories, including a hammer, a prime and the indispensable emergency whistle. With the awl, you can drill a hole in a piece of wood and even do an emergency repair to your tent or clothing.
Leatherman has also thought about a small diamond sharpening stone and a firesteel. They are on the small side, but still very useful to always carry with you for emergencies. In short, the Signal is a multi-tool that is

DMT DIAMOND SHARPENING PRODUCTS FOR EVERYONE diamond machining technology was founded in 1976. it is commonly known as dmt. a company with a very straightforward goal: making the best sharpening systems with stones based on diamond. The name DMT stands for quality. This American brand specializes in the production of high quality, high-precision diamond sharpening stones. Diamond is very hard, and sharpens at lightning speed. The diamond particles are evenly distributed with an optimal density and the stones are extremely flat and do not hollow out. This is important for obtaining consistent grinding results. You can recognize stones from DMT by the coloured pattern of polka dots. These dots within the diamond matrix help by redirecting the residue from sharpening and stop the stone from being clogged
with metal particles, thus sharpening more efficiently. This award winning concept has been the key to the DMT stones popularity.
The best sharpening systems with stones based on diamond. After 40 years, the company still has the ongoing drive to be the best. This is reflected in their wide collection of sharpening products. Suitable for any type of user, from beginner to experienced sharpener.

EDEN HANDMADE CUTTING BOARDS
Y
HANDMADE IN HOLLAND BY A PROFESSIONAL WITH AN EYE FOR DETAIL. ou can see it all over the cutting boards. It starts with the choice of wood: Fiery purple heart, exotic zebrano with its characteristic jagged veins, golden yellow hot iroko wood or just the bright maple wood... each is handpicked for the highest standards.
Then the time-consuming process starts: sawing, gluing, sawing, sanding, sawing again, measuring and fitting. A long and delicate process where each piece of wood is assigned to the right place. The result is a complicated puzzle, pieced together into a beautiful, solid cutting board.
Wood is a natural product. It expands and contracts under the influence of the inevitable fluctuations in temperature and humidity. The wood in these cutting boards is crosscut; cut cross grain and then glued together. The natural movement of the wood is sent in the direction of the grain. Due to this construction it minimizes the chance of cracks. Seeing something beautiful every day... why not?
The result is a complicated puzzle, pieced together into a beautiful, solid cutting board.

This chopper/machete makes a potential bivouac from each tree and a camp fire from each branch. The bright color combinations make sure you never lose the tool in the field.
This robust knife is built like a pry bar, but doesn’t skimp out on slicing ability. With the green powder coating, it would be a perfect companion blade during a game of hide and seek.

TIE A LANYARD With a thousand different applications, a paracord always comes in handy. Tie your own lanyard (as a wrist strap) and you always have a piece of emergency cordage. We will teach you the “Cobra Weave” that allows you to create a compact and sturdy lanyard knot.
1.
2.
3.
4.
Start with two pieces of paracord with at least 30 cm of length.
Turn one side of piece 1 around piece 2.
Complete the knot by putting piece 1 through its own loop.
Pull piece 1 evenly on both sides to complete the knot. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you find the lanyard to be long enough.
You will have the basic knot of the “Cobra Weave” mastered very quickly. Now the possibilities are endless, the only limit is your own creativity. And the length of the paracord. Happy knotting!
