Planning for the Non-Planner Written By: Sue Scharf If you find yourself completely intimidated by the thought of planning your own wedding, rest assured, you are not alone. For many couples, their wedding will be the largest event they will ever plan. Some couples dive headfirst into the planning by creating spreadsheets for their invitations, special bank accounts, to-do lists, etc. while some couples seem to struggle with every little detail. If you find yourself struggling to plan your big day, we a few helpful tips that will make even the most inexperienced couple feel like planning pros! Your Venue: Make sure to choose a location that is a “one stop shop”. A Country Club for example will provide everything from tables, chairs and linens to catering, alcohol and even your wedding cake for one per person price. When a couple is left to hire their own rental company, caterers and service staff it just adds to the list of unnecessary details to be concerned with. Your Meal: If you are not the best when it comes to the little details your best bet for feeding your guests is a buffet. If you plan to offer your guests a choice of several different plated meals keep in mind you will need to ask each guest what they would prefer on your invitations, provide seating assignments and create a meal card for each guest so they are served the proper meal. With a buffet you can offer several different dishes and let your guests decide what they would like to eat right then and there. Your Décor: With the growing popularity of the DIY wedding, some couples fall into the Pinterest trap. If you do not love crafting and know you are not the most artistic crayon in the box, please hire a florist or decorator! There are so many options within different price points, you are sure to find someone that can take that weight off of your shoulders. If you need help planning your wedding you can always reach out to us here at Knollwood for advice!
