SBI – PO / Clerk State Bank of India is the only nationalized bank which conducts recruitment examinations on their own. The pattern of SBI (PO and Assistant) exam is different. SBI PO exam is consists of two parts: 

The Objective Test is of 2 hours duration includes four sections: SBI – PO / Clerk exam includes five sections as mentioned below: 1 English Language 40 Marks 2 General Awareness 40 Marks 3 Marketing & Computer Knowledge 40 Marks 4 Maths & Data Interpretation 40 Marks 5 Reasoning 40 Marks Maximum Marks 200 Marks

The Descriptive Test is of 1 hour duration and of 50 marks. It includes Test of English Language (comprehension, short précis, letter writing & essay). Aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both Objective and Descriptive Tests will be arranged in descending order in each category. A certain adequate number of candidates as decided by the bank, will be called for the Group Discussion and Interview Test

Common Banking Exam Syllabus: Reasoning – It contains following topics: Classification, Analogy, Decision Making, Word Formation, Series, Decoding & Coding, Blood, Relation, Symbol & Notation, Statement & Conclusion, Sitting Arrangement & etc. English language – It contains following topics: Reading Comprehension, Sentence Rearrangement, Sentence Completion, Spotting Errors, Passage Completion, Synonyms & Antonyms etc. Maths (Quantitative aptitude) – It contains following topics: Arithmetic & Data Interpretation, Bar Graphs, Pie-Charts, Line Graphs & Tabulation, Roots, Average, Ratio, Time & Work, Time and Distance, Percentage, Profit & Loss etc. General Awareness – It Consists of Common questions on banking and general knowledge. Banking G.K, Economics, General Awareness, Current Affairs, RBI Rules & Polices, Sports & Awards, Books & Authors etc. Computer Knowledge – It Consists of Basic computer skills are examined. Basic knowledge of computers, MS Office, Windows, Internet, Operating systems, Computer networking, Internet E-commerce, Acronyms etc. Marketing Knowledge – It Consists of Basic Marketing terms knowledge. Basic knowledge of Marketing, Terms in marketing, Different types of marketing, Basic out source marketing terms etc.

Officer Scale III 21-40 yrs. Officer Scale II 21-32 yrs. Officer Scale I 18-28 yrs.

SBI/SBI Associate Banks PO

21-30 Years

Degree in any discipline from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification.

Degree in any discipline for General Banking Officers (50% for Scale II &III) & Degree / PG in a relevant subject for Specialist Officers as given in the notification. Experience also required for some posts.

Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university / college.

Computer Literacy: Some banks insist that the candidate should posses working knowledge of computers before joining the bank and few banks mention that the desired computer skills may be acquired within six months of joining the bank. If a candidate has not studied computers as one of the subjects in school/college, the candidate must possess a valid diploma (basic applications) in computers. Language Proficiency: Public Sector Banks: Since clerical cadre recruitment would be on State-wise basis, the candidate may also be required to possess proficiency in the Official Language of the State/UT for which vacancies he wishes to apply. Regional Rural Banks : For Office Assistants (Clerks) and Scale-I Officers ---- Candidates are required to possess proficiency in the Official Language of the State/UT in which RRB is located
