All you need to know of IELTS exam IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. It is the standardized test which is acceptable in many countries all around the world. This test is taken by majority of the students which only tests the understanding of English language. This exam is conducted by two bodies namely, IDP (International Development Program) and BC (British Council) which are ultimately authorized by University of Cambridge. In this exam, the student is given scores in the form of bands which is out of 9. Total four modules are included in this exam, they are: Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking. Reading, Listening and writing is conducted on one day but speaking is conducted on separate day. Each module counts for 9 bands.
Reading:This module is of 60 minutes and total questions are 40 which is divided into three long passages. There are various types of questions that the students may come across.
Reading Tip:Read questions first and understand demand of the question.
Listening:The student will listen to a track which is of nearly 30 minutes and at the same time the student has to write down answers of certain questions which is given in the listening booklet and this booklet contains 40 questions which is divided into four sections, nearly 10 questions in each section. After completion of the track 10 minutes extra time is given to transfer your answers on the final answer sheet.
Listening tip:- Read questions first when there is time to read questions and for being familiar with the accent, listen to English songs and English news.
Writing :In this 60 minutes module, two tasks are there, Task 1 (Report Writing, 20 minutes) and Task 2 (Essay writing, 40 minutes) and the minimum word limit is 150 and 250 words.
Writing tip:Learn Synonyms, avoid repetition of words and ideas.
Speaking :Three rounds are conducted in this module, Introduction, Cue- Card and Follow ups round. This module is of nearly 15 minutes but it depends upon the examiner. Around 4-5 questions are asked in 1st and 3rd round whereas in 2nd round, student has to speak for two minutes.
