Graduate Management Aptitude Test is the exam conducted throughout the year to get admission in reputed universities of the United States and other countries in various management and doctoral courses. One of the international level exam is GMAT which has certain sections: 1. Verbal Section 2. Quantitative Section
Verbal section includes:
Integrated Reasoning (Scored differently) Critical Reasoning Analytical Writing Analysis (Scored differently) Sentence Correction
Which Section to do at first? Earlier, the format of GMAT was fixed that used to start with AWA, followed by Integrated Reasoning, then optional break after that quantitative section again there used to be a break and at last verbal section. Order 1 : AWA, IR, first break, quantitative , second break, verbal Order 2: Verbal, first break, quant, second break, IR, then at last AWA Order 3 : Quant, First break, verbal, second break, IR, then AWA. Please Note that the order 1 is the traditional order. From July 11, 2017 students can choose any order from 3 orders.
Section Explanation Integrated Reasoning:
It is a 30 minute essay type question. It is the replacement of one of the AWA essays. The scores range from 1-8. It checks the analytical skills to solve complicated problem. A data is presented in various forms like chart, table, and graph etcetera. The relevant information is chosen from the data and the right answer is selected from the options given. 4 different questions are included in this section: 1. Table Analysis: In this, information is provided in tabular format and the student chooses an option from the multiple choice questions which is either true/false or yes/no. 2. Graphics Interpretation: In this, interpretation of graph is done by students. Here, students complete the sentence by choosing one of the option from the pull down option.
3. Multi- Source Reasoning:- Here, students gather the information by clicking on various tabs (2-3) given. The available data may be presented either as text or in the form of charts, tables. The answers may be in the form of yes/no, true/false or multiple choice options. 4. Two- Part analysis: One question and multiple choices are given. It focuses on ability of students to find out the information from a couple of inter-dependent components. It may need qualitative or verbal skills.
