The Human-Powered Brilliance That Is Prairie Fire Athletics

THE HUMANPOWERED BRILLIANCE THAT IS PRAIRIE FIRE ATHLETICS

HOW IT FEELS TO JOIN THE PRAIRIE FIRE 1. YOU KNOW THE MEANING OF PRIDE.

4. YOU CAN MAKE HISTORY.

And the meaning of leadership. And collaboration. And passion. Every day, on the field and off.

In 2014, our men’s soccer team swept the Midwest Conference awards—including Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Coach of the Year—and won the conference championship. Oh, and won 13 games in a row during the regular season, a new school record. We honor the past; we play for the future.

2. YOU’RE PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER. You’re part of a team. You’re part of the Knox community—an exceptionally diverse, uncommonly effective group of students from around the world. You’re part of a liberal arts college—an opportunity to explore across disciplines, blaze new trails, make new connections. You belong—on the team, on campus, in the world.

3. YOU’VE GOT HISTORY BEHIND YOU. We awarded our first varsity letter in 1881. We’re a member of the Midwest Conference, distinguished by a long history of intense competition and legendary performances. Our rivalry with Monmouth College is one of the oldest athletic rivalries in the country. When you wear the purple and gold, you join a rich tradition.

5. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. We’re a small college—1,400 students— that takes pride in being democratic, inclusive, supportive. Everyone counts. Every voice matters. If you come here, you have the power to make a difference.
