The event not only supports fashion, but also supports Autism charities, like Autism Speaks and Autism Achievement Academy. Local to Knoxville, the Autism Achievement Academy was started to offer education programs to serve children with Autism in the Knoxville area, and Knoxville Fashion Week will be benefiting that goal.

The way to a woman’s heart. As I type those words I actually laughed. There are countless books, articles, tips (7 secrets, 12 magical ways to make her fall in love) and on and on; it is quite amusing. Like weight loss everyone is looking for the easy way or the fastest. While some of the material is helpful just like with anything else, unless you put it into practice it doesn’t help. This month has been a major get it together month!

I tend to live in a state of overbooked and am continually running from one thing to the next but I’ve decided that’s just who I am. I just need to learn to embrace it and the only way to not live in chaos and stress is to get it together and get organized. While the thought of organizing my inbox, let alone my entire life, really triggers some anxiety, the end thought really makes me happy! I’m not a naturally organized person so this will definitely be a process and a learning experience but I hope to share some of my organization tips over here. That may need to be it’s own separate series, but I’ve decided to share my progress in this month’s Heart Happy post. The three things I’m working on this month are, schedule, fitness and budget.

1. SCHEDULE: I’m trying to be really diligent about my to-do lists 2. FITNESS: After yesterday’s post you know I’m working on

living healthy, which for me means I’m back to running. Running is my thing. It makes me feel great, I actually enjoy it and I see results. Now don’t get me wrong, every. single.time. I dread it and it’s a constant struggle to get those tennies on my feet but once I make it through that first 1/2 mile I’m reminded why it’s really not so bad. Get me some good tunes and a cute workout outfit and sometimes I’m actually excited to get out there! This is also absolutely something I have to schedule in my day. Whether it’s in the morning or after work, at least 4 days a week it’s gotta be on the calendar and I need to remember to pack my clothes!

and my planner. Keeping all these things up to date and making sure I have some downtime. Blogging time in there is crucial. I typically don’t schedule time for blogging. I just work when I can, but a lot of times that means staying up until 2:00 am finishing up the next day’s post because I filled my entire day to the brim and that’s the only time to squeeze it in! So, going forward, I’m going to try to schedule my day. Schedule photoshoots in the morning and leave at least an hour block in the evening for strictly blogging. No shopping, no Pinterest, just working on the next post. There’s a lot of room for improvement in organizing my schedule but the blog spot will be crucial!

3. BUDGET: I’m really trying to be a responsible #girlboss and implement a budget. I’ve started these plenty of times, I even have an old budget Maybook somewhere I should probably dig up. But they’re hard, something always comes up that you didn’t think about or budget for and it gets discouraging. But it’s the responsible thing to do, so I’m going to give it another go! I’m working on it this week and hope to fully implement February 1st. One thing that will definitely help out is cutting out shopping the entire month of February. I’m super excited to be teaming up with Becky and Jaclyn on No Spend February so that we can hold each other accountable. If I feel like others are in it with me I’ll definitely feel much better about holding strong to my commitment. With that said, I’ve got today and tomorrow to make any last minute purchases! Eek!!

of weight and body fat on a scale. This will work but sometimes can be frustrating not seeing the numbers change. So let’s try a different approach if the years prior haven’t worked. This is going to sound weird but try looking at yourself naked in the mirror. This will do a few things. It will allow you to see yourself without clothes that cover up our imperfections. This isn’t the easiest thing to do but it will open your eyes to what needs to be done to regain your health. It will also give you a realistic view of what you need to focus on. We can quickly and accurately see what we want to change. This isn’t about putting yourself down but about owning what you have, accepting it, and if you are not happy with your body/health then do something to change it! Seeing yourself completely exposed may be hard at first but will actually make you more confident and comfortable with your body as you progress and let you see the progression before the scale. Consistency. Not Perfection: I often tell my clients “consistency not perfection.” What I mean by this is not to focus on being perfect all the time. Most people can’t be perfect so it’s quite a leap to even assume so. If we do try and be perfect we quickly go crazy and get off of our plan. But what we can be is consistent. Consistency is key to achieving results. Consistently eating correctly and working out regularly will most definitely find the results you want. It may take some time but you will get there. 2 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar 1 tbsp Olive Oil 6 Strawberries 1 tbsp stone ground mustard 1 tsp honey (puree all ingredients in blender or food processor)

Best cooked in Cast Iron Skillet Marinate with Sea Salt and Ground Black Pepper. Let Steaks get to room temp before cooking.

Heat Skillet to Medium high heat, use 1 tbsp olive oil to season pan. Cook Filets for 1-2 minutes each side then place in 400 degree oven for 3-5 minutes depending on how well done you like it.

Flooded Sugar Cookies For the cookies:

1 1/2 cups butter, softened 2 cups white sugar 4 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 5 cups all purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in rest of ingredients. Cover and chill dough for at least one hour. Roll dough out on a floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 in thick and cut into desired shapes. Bake on 350 6-8 minutes depending on your desired cookie. Cool completely.

For the Icing:

2 cups confectioners' sugar 1 large egg white 1/2 tsp water In a large bowl combine all ingredients with a wooden spoon until the icing has thickened and is smooth (about 2 min) you may add food coloring at the time of mixing to get desired color.

One of my favorite things about being independent is that we don’t have to do any particular style. Sometimes we’ll get outside the box and do something different and fun.

how did it feel to have your 1st ticketed event? We played our first ticketed event last August at the Bijou. It was a great feeling. We didn’t really have anybody to tell us what to do or how to do it other than some advice from friends. We played the bar scene for so long and we just felt like it was time to play our own music. So we rented the Bijou and almost sold it out.

We figured we would give it a shot and if it didn’t get enough response we would be go back to playin g the bar scene. Needles s to say we were very fortunate from that even t. We found our agent an d we will be in Nashville, Kentucky, North Carolin a, Florida, and Chicago so far in 2016.
