AT RO C K E R I I “Adding to the fun and entertainment our guests experience every Wednesday night when they come to sing Karaoke, or just enjoy listening to the music and performance of enthusiastic Karaoke singers, we will have a $100 giveaway, sponsored by Spotlight Entertainment on the last Wednesday of every month", said Jean Neal, Manager of the Rocker Club. Starting with the first Wednesday of each month, all guests who come to Wednesday’s Karaoke will get a card to fill out with name and telephone number. This will be repeated every Wednesday. On the last Wednesday of each month one card will be drawn from all the cards collected on “Karaoke Wednesdays” and one lucky guest will receive $100 in cash. It’s quite possible that those who come to the Club on most or all Wednesdays during a month may have the best odds for winning the $100. “It’s like getting a gold star from the teacher for perfect attendance at school", said Neal, with a chuckle, "but winning $100 is much better than a paper gold star”. “Please come and enjoy the variety of entertainment we offer to the public all through the year” she said. The Rocker also invites everyone to come and join in the fun of Super Bowl Bash. On Sunday, February 6, guests will be watching the game in the new Media Sports Room on a 9’ x 12’ theatre Television Screen and on 10 other flat screen televisions with entertainment provided by real-life NFL Cheerleaders. Tickets on the day of the game will be $10 per person with giveaways of authentic NFL Jerseys, hats and “all you can eat”, FREE pizza. The public is also invited to come and watch the NASCAR Bud Shootout on Saturday, February 12, the NASCAR Gatorade Duel on Thursday, February 17 and the Daytona 500 on Sunday, February 20, all FREE of charge. The events will be shown on a large theatre screen and on 10 flat screen Televisions. During the Daytona 500 on Sunday, February 20, there will be FREE pizza and giveaways. FREE shuttle service to and from the Rocker, for those who reside on Post, will also be available on Sunday. Call the shuttle driver at (270) 272-8956.

LOVING APART
ŇOpportunity Knox
ON VALENTINE'S DAY If there is one thing all couples in the military have in common, it’s coping with deployment and surviving the hardships of a long distance relationship. Most couples in the Army wish for nothing more than to share every cherished moment of their lives together, whether it is the birth of a new baby, an anniversary or even a special holiday. Enduring separation for any reason can add strain to a relationship. The one thing military couples should quickly understand is that love in the Army is a battlefield and it takes strength, determination, and commitment to make the distance work. Don’t let the thousands of miles barrier bring you down. Being proactive in your relationship will help bridge the gap and make the time apart easier to cope with. Here are several things you can do to invest in your relationship. TALK ABOUT THE FUTURE Make plans for just the two of you or the entire family. Whether it’s buying a new home, taking a second honeymoon, or taking the kids to Disneyworld, use this time to talk about it! Share your excitement for what’s in store when your loved one returns home and don’t leave out details. CELEBRATE SPECIAL OCCASIONS Being apart doesn’t mean your loved one has to miss important moments. Celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, holidays or a child’s first milestone together through recorded video, Skype, and pictures. If it’s possible to video chat through Skype or live teleconference, use that opportunity to decorate the area around you with greeting signs, balloons, flowers etc., and make them feel like they are a big part of the celebration. SEND LOVE LETTERS Email has become such a daily part of our lives that we’ve forgotten the beauty of a handwritten letter. When your spouse is deployed, the one thing that makes their day is getting letters in the mail. Try writing a series of love letters with interesting topics such as, “Ten Reasons Why I Love You,” and “My Top Ten Favorite Moments with You.” They may not necessarily get their mail in order while overseas, so it’s best to number each letter. CREATE A VIDEO MONTAGE OF YOUR LIFE TOGETHER Gather photos of your most favorite memories with personal captions, and put it into a slide show with your “song” in the background. This will give him/her a chance to reminisce and look forward to coming home so you can build more future memories together. MAKE IT A “DATE NIGHT” Granted, trying to coordinate with your Soldier overseas can be tricky. The connection might be terrible, last minute missions may override your webcam session and the time difference just might not be feasible. But, when you do get connected, it’s worth every moment. Dates are hard to come by when your loved one is deployed, so why not have dinner or watch a movie through a live video chat? It’s possible they may only get to eat an MRE, while you ravage that delicious chicken dinner, but the idea of doing the same thing at the same time makes all the difference. SHARE YOUR LOVE WITH A FAMILY PET Loving and forever loyal, your family pet is more than ready to stand in as your snuggling companion while your loved one is deployed. Both dogs and cats provide a warm body for you to hold and chances are, they miss your deployed Soldier too and need the extra love and attention as much as you do. Don’t take the distance that separates you from your loved one for granted. Always try to find new ways to show how much that person means to you and keep that flame burning. And remember, a love that lasts will surpass the distance. www.KnoxMWR.comŇ)HEUXDU\ Ň
