COMMUNITY PLANNING AND DESIGN - BAJIA, HAIDIAN DISTRICT, BEIJING 北京海淀区八家村居住区规划
Bajia is located about three kilometers east of Zhongguancun. Close to the Electronic Technology Center and several colleges and universities, this site is a favorable residence location for white-collar employees and college teachers working nearby. Therefore，the project targets mainly these people, especially young population between the ages of 26 and 40. Through rational and efficient organization of space, we aim to create a pleasant and comfortable community environment and atmosphere. The semi-enclosed clusters help shape a sense of identity and belonging, with well-planned public spaces adding vitality and fun to the community.

Ecological infrastructure is the basic structure of a sustainable landscape (or ecosystem), which is a powerful tool for the construction of ecological city. The purpose of this project is to build the ecological infrastructure through the analysis of security patterns, aiming at ensuring the integrity of ecological services and local culture, and determining the development patterns and urban form of this area.

LANDSCAPE PLANNING AND DESIGN - THE QING RIVER, BEIJING 北京清河沿岸地区景观规划设计
This case borrows the concepts of Qi, meridians and acupuncture points in traditional Chinese medicine theories, regarding the urban sites as organisms. In traditional Chinese medicine theories, there are energy and material flows called Qi traveling in our body. They travel in certain pathways rather than just disperse all around. The pathways they travel through are Jing Luo, or meridians, intersecting our body, making our body a integrated organism. The meridians guarantee the respiration, digestion, nervous and all the other systems function healthily. If they are blocked, illness happens.
Transportation Planning
In Qing He River’s case, the energy flow of the site is blocked and limited to different extent, leading to various problems for the citizens: inconvenience of going out, lack of communication, not enough open space and so on. To solve these problems, the energy flow has to be re-vitalized, requiring a pathway to let it pass through. In this case the river is chosen to be the very pathway, the river and its bank as the core of the linear site. And the vitalization of the river will radiate to its both sides, benefiting the citizens.

Because of lack of available land on the river bank, a vertical wall is set to install two-level roads and create waterfront space.
Mode II: Middlestream Mode
Corridor Planning 廊道规划
With wide green belts on both sides, the bank can be transformed into a typical bank in the form of natural slope. Water-front plank, bicycle and jogging paths are settled along the river bank, which are connected with the downstream walking systems, forming a continuous waterfront space.
Downstream Mode 下游模式
Mode III: Upstream Mode Transfer the unused lands to ecological buffer and ecological conservational area. Through the introduction of native pioneer species, promote the ecological succession process and the restoration of natural state.

URBAN REGENERATION - BEIJING SECOND THERMAL POWER PLANT AND TIANNING TEMPLE DISTRICT 北京第二热电厂及天宁寺旧区改造规划
Located in the Xuanwu District and the periphery of the inner city of Beijing, this site is characterized by mix land uses, which contains the abandoned factory of the Second Thermal Power Plant, the Tianning Temple, the residential community of the 1990s and the dilapidated shanty town. Our project tries to animate this area by carrying on the ancient wisdom of Zen and combining it into modern creative cultures, which will help us to open a new way of urban regeneration and explore new ideas for building a smart city.
