Integrated Transport Interchange for buses, trains and planes Usak-Turkey Thesis project
Supervisor: Olivero Godi
airport

railway
Initially the project started as a bus terminal but then having the infrastructure of railway just below the area and being 2.5 km away from the existing airport brought the idea of combining these transport modes. So by land-use integration project becomes more efficent and more sustainable. it decreases the time and energy to travel between diferent transport hubs. The region is very rich in terms of its archeological sites and
most of the arti-
facts are left in the storages of museums. In order to unveil this artifacts and contribute to the tourism and cultural assets of the region I decided to insert a museum inside the building. However the visitors of archeological museum in the city is very low so I integrated the museum to the circulation path of the project So people don’t need to go museum, museum appears in the route of people. So unlike other museums it’s very inviting and useful. Considering the increase in time that people will spend in this building because of integration of three different transport hubs, I modified and added some public functions like self-education-center where people can really learn and develop their skills in various daily topics and a cabin hotel which is only composed of minimal cabins. Also it has a multimedia room which is unique interactive space that brings together all the landmarks ancient cities and other touristic places
SOCIAL HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT Rethinking post-expo use: Social housing development for the EXPO2015 site Milan-Italy Team: Murat Bilen, Bur癟in M覺zrak
Supervisor: Remo Dorigati
The project site is located in the periphery of urban area where infrastructure is very well developed and also it has the large green areas. So in this case the site has both advantages of urban and rural area. Therefore this unique situation enabled to create an urban development having a boulevard in the middle branching out with secondary pedestarian roads equipped with the various shops which will serve to the users for different purposes, and the periphery of the site which has water canals as legacy of EXPO2015 designed as a green urban parks where we can also find some facilities to satisfy the needs of people like sport fields, restaurants, cafes, ateliers... The builinds are designed in a very porous way to create a powerful link between urban and suburban features of the project. So urban terraces, secondary pedestarian roads leading to the green, ramps are connecting the two aspects of the project.

high air quality, and good visual comfort have been defined as the aims for the working environment of the employees, all factors which influence

comfort but productivity. To minimize loads, we decided to develop a facade system to optimize daylight on one hand, but on the other hand to control solar gains as a protection for overheating. The result is a highly transparent double glazing, using low iron glass and the most neutral low-e coating combined with an Argon filling to filter as much daylight as possible into the building and ensure a good insulation value. An external, wind able

CULTURAL CENTER
Landscape design, multi-purpose hall, restaurant and a cultural pavilion Milan-Italy Team: Murat Bilen, Bur癟in M覺zrak
Supervisor: Cino Zucchi
The long and narrow shape of the site full with pavilions adjacent to easch other at one side obliged us to keep the accesibility one of the primary input of the project. So starting from this point we created an urban piazza in the middle which can be perceived from all parts of the site and then we connected it wth pedesterian roads and the design of park is a result of delicate transition between harscape and landscape. More it gets closer to the urban piazza more it becomes hardscape. Multi purpose hall and restaurant is placed in order to define the inner street and having direct relationship with main steets at both side and transparent ground floor makes the building more inviting and attractive.

URBAN AGRICULTURE Bringing agriculture into the city Milan-Italy Team: Murat Bilen, Bur癟in M覺zrak
Supervisor: Stefano Boeri
After a intense research for an interface between agriculture and urban life we found out that car parking with or nearby marketplaces can be a good interface for the agriculture because agriculture is directly related with streetmarkets and we dont need to pay for the land and also agriculture level can provide a shelter for both cars and streetmarkets.
There are two main ideas which shapes the building. One of them is to get integrated

TYPICAL HOTEL FLOOR PLAN
The project was a rethinking of a international huge mixed-use project. So I perceived
the term “re-thinking” as an rethinking the typology, boundaries, users...etc. So this kind of questioning approach helped me to come up with a project developed in extreme measures of existing typologies of mixed-use development. Shelter with variable sections give me the oppurtunity to overcome the problem of rigid, monothone spaces in such a huge complex in this kind of typologies. Also titan-alu cladding material on the facades created a fully variable facade that reflects the sky. The site was fully surronded with roads. So the project developed inwards, created a social courtyard. Around the building the dense green texture functions as a buffer zone that cuts the noise coming from roads.

MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT Shopping center, residences, offices, hotel and recreational areas Istanbul- Turkey Supervisor: Abdi Güzer
The site is located on a very busy and important street-8th street. I So decided to locate multi-purpose hall and the restaurant having direct relationship with the street in order to use the potential of such a street. This idea brought the transparency between the building and street. In the organization of the complex, function is the main concern and in the design process, I avoided making strict boundaries, instead of that I prefered to use smooth transitions by keeping the required privacy that is particular to the sections of the complex

EXHIBITION SPACE Organization of exhibition areas Venice - Italy Team: Murat Bilen, Burcin Mizrak
The building evolved from the idea of flexible layout. So the aim is to utilise the building either for one exhibition or several exhibitions at the same time. Therefore the
whole
building can be used for one great exhibition by the help of stairs inside the inner court or each floor can be used for different exhibitions by the help of external path which also creates terraces for the users to enjoy the beatiful view of Venice.

RESTAURANT TRANSFORMER Designing a versatile restaurant for Marriott International concept project for any branch
exhibition + cocktail
The idea was develop and transform the space not for just dining but also some other activities like exhibition, shows, meetings, coctails... To achieve this flexible layout fast and easily I come up with a table system which can be integrated to the ceiling and leave the space free for other activities when needed So the foots of chairs and tables can be fold inside the unit and become a box then with the help of a cable system they can be go up and be part of ceiling, and the spots under the table which will be active only the table is inside the ceiling convert the atmosphere of restaurant into a simple, flexible space where a lot of activities can take place. The gap of the table in the ceiling has a digital screen which can be used with the digital screen inside wall and gives a unique identity to the space. The movable part wihic is composed of folded tables and chairs can be used also as a desk for coktails or shows. Foldable panels located in the restaurant seperate the restaurant in to many private zones So the users can use the units for different purposes in the same time.

ECO-HOUSE
sustainable single family house
Muğla - Turkey Team: Murat Bilen, Burcin Mizrak, Onur Tunc Ekmekçi, İlker Teker
The project ironically emphasize the problem of decreasing water resources which can be seen as a future issue but actuallly we started suffer from the problem in recent years. Placing a water collecting column in the middle of house is a formal expression of architecturally underlining this problem. The water colecting column enables house to cool down in the summer or the water can be sent to the storage under the house to use in By creating a double skin south facade, we create a sun trap where we kept the heat and send inside the house in winter, whereas in summer time the sun trap becomes a buffer zone in order to prevent heat exchange between indoor and outdoor and exteact the hot air from the top point of frame.
FERRY STATION

CROSS SECTION
The unsufficient connection between the waterfront and the museum and the project’s struggle of existence in the randomly developed tangled district were the main things that shaped the project. Architectural response to this situation is to design the building simple and pure and in a way that extending and pointing to the museum. The
building
