History. The L & A Bakery was established by Henry Levinger, Eugene Levinger, and V.I. Werle at its present location in 1916. It was listed in the Sioux Falls City Directory from 1914 until 1935. The Story. When purchased by the current owners, the roof had been leaking badly for several years and the building was full of junk and not far from collapse. When the owner found the people of Fluxxr, a group of young entrepreneurs interested in using the building as a co-working, business incubation space, the project was born. The program was to restore the building’s historic grace while inserting, as unobtrusively as possible, new HVAC, lighting, power and technology. After individually listing the building on the National Registry of Historic Places, rehab was performed to the state’s historic rehab standards.
