December 2009 Faithful Navigator's Message Greetings Sir Knights and Ladies We are approaching that lovely time of year when we celebrate the Birth of Our Lord Jesus, and I know it is often a frustrating time for many, especially the shutins. As Knights and Christians we should be turning our minds to how we can assist those in need and see how we can perhaps bring those who cannot drive to Mass at Christmas. I also want to throw out a challenge to all in our Assembly. We need new members and I challenge each of you to bring in one new member to the Assembly in this coming year. We need more members, preferably younger, energetic men, to be our future leaders. Also, for your New Year Resolution I ask you to consider what kind of Knight you plan to be in 2010. 1. How about resolving to attend all 4th degree meetings (or even attend more frequently)? 2. How about arranging to bring a Sir Knight who no longer can drive or who no longer drives at night? 3. How about volunteering your services on the phone committee (we need some help there). 4. How about putting your brain to the task of how we can improve our Assembly, make meetings more interesting and put some funds in our coffers? I would be remiss if I did not take this opportunity to thank the executive, members and their spouses for all the hard work you put in during the past year to help make our Assembly one of the best in the BC and Yukon District. Finally on behalf of my wife, Ineke, and myself, I wish you all a very happy and holy Christmas, followed by a healthy and prosperous New Year. Vivat Jesus, John L. Smith, Faithful Navigator, Monsignor Clinton assembly 2307

Our Lady’s Message to Mirjana Soldo at Medjugorje on December 2, 2009. "Dear children! At this time of preparation and joyful expectation I, as a mother, desire to point you to what is the most important, to your soul. Can my Son be born in it? Is it cleansed by love from lies, arrogance, hatred and malice? Above all else does your soul love God as your Father and does it love your fellow brother in Christ? I am pointing you to the way which will raise your soul to a complete union with my Son. I desire for my Son to be born in you. W hat a joy that would be for me as mother. Thank you."

-------------------------------------------------------CALENDAR OF EVENTS: SUNDAY, DECEMBER 13, MASS WITH HONOUR GUARD AT GOOD SHEPHERD CHURCH AT 11.00 AM, FOLLOWED BY OUR ANNUAL CHRISTMAS BRUNCH AT 12.30 PM AT THE ABC RESTAURANT, 2100 BLOCK, KING GEORGE HW Y. THE ROOM IS UPSTAIRS AND THE BUFFET IS ON THE MAIN FLOOR BUT YOU CAN ALSO ORDER FROM THE MENU. THURSDAY, JANUARY 28, 2010, REGULAR MEETING, STAR OF THE SEA CHAMBERS, 7.30 PM --------------------------------------------------------------GOOD READING: The National Post, in my humble opinion, is one of the best Christian newspapers on the market these days and I would recommend it highly. It has good journalists who are not afraid to speak out about the Church. Also, for those who have computers, you can go into “The Holy Post” (just Google National Post.com and click on Holy Post) and get a regular up-to-date look at Christian news around the world. -------------------------------------------REGALIA is available from Roger Sauve in Montreal (1-888-266-1211). You can view items and prices at http://www.rogersauve.com/ . Below are some of the main items and prices for your convenience. Sword (sold only under authorization from the District Master) $155.00
Cape 55% polyester, 45% wool $140.00 Admiral hat with white feather $175.00 (with hat box $215.00) Nylon bag, emblem 4th Degree colour $12.50
Tuxedos and related items such as cummerbund, ties, shirts etc are available from local stores and if you phone around you can pick up a bargain with ex-rentals etc. Moores for Men had a special discount for Knights by showing your membership card but I’m not sure if that still applies. Local prices are certainly lower and you get measured on the spot. ------------------------------------------------------A blonde goes to the post office to buy stamps for her Christmas cards. She says to the clerk, "May I have 50 Christmas stamps?" The clerk says, "What denomination?" 3
The woman says, "Has it really come to this? Give me 6 Catholic, 12 Protestants, and 32 Baptists."
----------------------------------------Happy Christmas everyone! Hugh Gaffney, Editor.
