MOTOR AND BATTERY SPECIFICATIONS The number of Amp hours (Ah) is multiplied by the battery voltage (V) to give the number of watt-hours (Wh) of energy which the battery can deliver. DAY LIGHT FUNCTION Extra LEDs are fitted which ensure that you’re highly visible in traffic all day long. Then at dusk a high power LED headlight takes over. If the battery is empty, the motor works as a dynamo so that you will never be without lights as you ride. AUTOMATIC RECHARGE TECHNOLOGY The battery pack will be recharged whenever no pressure is being exerted on the pedals, for example while braking or going downhill when you’re riding along, but not pedalling. POWER ASSIST Automatic power assist or ‘extra’ power assist, by twisting a ‘throttle’. You can make the electric bike move itself, both forwards and backwards. RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Our starting point when developing new models is always to produce the very best product for the passionate (and demanding) cyclist. We dedicate a lot of attention to the finish, and carefully select a harmonious set of components. If that isn’t possible with existing components, we develop our own. This gives our bikes their distinctive appearance and stylish look. Less is more!

QUALITY CENTER Koga offers an uncompromising guarantee of quality. We have invested heavily in our own testing laboratory where a team of specialists puts bikes and components through exacting tests. This enables us to make durable, low-maintenance cycles.

All Koga bikes are built by hand at our premises in Heerenveen, The Netherlands. A single technician is responsible for the full assembly of each bike. The ‘handbuilt by Koga’ logo on the frame is the guarantee of this unique working practice. By individuals, for individuals. 1. Light weight racing saddle with carbon rail and a comfortable 27,2 mm carbon seatpost with excellent shock absorption.

3. Integrated cable leads, also for the Shimano Di2. The dropouts on both frame and fork are made from carbon, ensuring the best possible connection with the rest of the frame while maintaining a low weight. The aluminium derailleur hanger is easily replaceable if needed.

2. Tapered head tube. The lower ball head bearing has a larger diameter (11/4”) than the upper (11/8”). The larger diameter of the fork ensures greater stiffness of the front fork for more stable steering without adding weight. The front brake has been integrated in the front fork for optimal aerodynamics. 4. The rear brake has been set below the frame for increased brake power and optimal aerodynamics. Press Fit bottom bracket: the bearings are pressed into the frame. This results in lower weight but also in greater stiffness, because the lower tube can connect to the bracket at a larger diameter.

KOGA CARBON TECHNOLOGY

Koga obviously doesn’t base the design of a new carbon frame solely on beautiful lines and shapes, but also on the correct balance between weight and rigidity. The shapes and sizes of the separate “tubes” determine the particular features of the frame. In order to optimise this shape Koga uses advanced computer calculations: FEM (Finite Element Method). 1. KOGA Atalanta multiposition butterfly handlebar was specially designed for quick and easy fitting of handlebar bag and navigation. It can be adjusted in the longitudinal direction.

1. Light weight smooth welded aluminium 6069 frame. The high tensile strength of this alloy makes it possible to produce a balanced frame with optimised local thickness, stiff yet comfortable. Fitted with a 27,2 mm seatpost with excellent shock absorption.

3. The gear cables have been mounted high under the upper tube to prevent dirt entering. By limiting the number of openings in the outer cables perfect gear shifting is guaranteed for many years.

2. Tapered head tube. The lower ball head bearing has a larger diameter than the upper one. The larger diameter results in more stable steering. Light weight suspension fork with remote lock out and 15 mm axle.

The ION pedal assist will start working as soon as you start pedalling. The engine is integrated into the wheels and will work smoothly and quietly up to the maximum legal speed of 25 km/h. You can easily choose the desired level of pedal assistance using the control next to the handgrip so you do not have to take your hands off the handlebars. All ION bicycles have an HD screen with bright blue LED lights, clearly displaying all relevant information. The removable display also acts as a starter inhibitor, doubling as excellent theft prevention.

The battery is one of the most important components of an E-Bike. Koga offers various types of batteries. You might opt for a removable battery pack which is built into the carrier rack, or a battery built into the frame (either removable or fixed). This is a matter of taste, and might be influenced by factors including availability of charging facilities, range required, bike weight distribution considerations, and personal preference. MAXIMUM RANGE KOGA E-bikes are provided with a high-end battery with a capacity ranging from 317 Wh to 612 Wh. The general rule is: the higher the Watt hours (“tank volume”), the greater the range. However, range also depends on factors such as the chosen level of pedal assistance, cycling circumstances, outside temperature, engine efficiency, tyre pressure, weight of the rider/load and the use of gears.

TIPS TO INCREASE RANGE: • Make sure your battery is always charged at departure. Your battery is protected from overcharging, so connect your battery to the charger as often as possible. • Choose the lowest level of pedal assistance. • Inflate the tyres to the correct air pressure regularly (as shown on the side of the tyre). • Use the lowest gear. Shift down when cycling against the wind or when you are going up a bridge, exactly as you would on a bike without pedal assist.

AUTOMATIC RECHARGE TECHNOLOGIE Using Automatic Recharge Technology (ART) the battery is recharged when no power is being exerted on the pedals, e.g. when you are going downhill. As a result your E-bike will automatically generate energy, partly recharging your battery and increasing your range.

If the battery needs to be replaced after years of cycling pleasure it can be recycled in an environmentally friendly way. 83

SAFETY

LIGHTING SYSTEM

Customers receive a two-year guarantee as standard from us on specific parts of Koga e-bikes (wear items are excluded) and in addition a lifelong warranty on the frame, as well as a 10 year guarantee on the paintwork. With a Koga e-bike you can be assured that Koga will be able to deliver spare parts for the bike for many years.

You are always safe on the road with a Koga e-bike: our bikes are equipped with state of the art innovations in electric bike technology. Sensors in the motor continuously monitor the rotational speed and the force which is applied to the pedals. So there is no risk that the motor will spring into action unexpectedly, and you can safely leave a foot on the pedals while, for example, waiting at a red traffic light. The jerk-free assistance cuts in very smoothly. And because the control buttons are right next to the hand grips, you can operate the e-bike without moving your hands from the handlebar.

The lighting system is also powered from the battery pack, and if required, it switches on automatically when it gets dark, and also, for example, when you ride through a tunnel. Many Koga e-bikes are also fitted with a daytime running light function for excellent all-day visibility in traffic. Then at dusk, the brightness of the daytime running lights diminishes and a high power LED headlight takes over, providing a superb view of the road ahead. If the battery is empty, the motor works as a dynamo so that you will never be without lights as you ride.

The battery pack too has a two year guarantee as standard, irrespective of the number of charge cycles. Koga advises that whenever possible, the bike be connected to the charger: the system is protected against overcharging.
