Personal Statement The second item of my portfolio is about a study environment design for primary school, which concerns design for children. With strong interest, I always attend to social problems concerning children, like Chinese left-behind children problem. I volunteered in poverty-stricken areas to accompany and care about left-behind children. My experience let me sense different social situations currently. High buildings isolate children and may leave a negative influence on their mind. I want to provide children with happy and free interactions and game-playing space by shaping some scenes. This is the field I try to study and explore. So I want to study deeper to pay constant attention to children-friendly problems and make better designs.

Different undergraduate courses let me skillfully apply the knowledge I acquired into making more excellent designs and lay me a solid foundation for future study. With capability to express ideas in design by drawing with software after professional learning and practicing, I have sharpened abilities and won prizes in design competitions. These motivate me to achieve more excellence in landscape architectural field. The MLA Landscape Architecture program can cultivate students’ different qualities and broaden their intellectual and aesthetic horizon. I hope to transform and create more beautiful, more wonderful, healthier and greener living environment with richer knowledge, imagination and creativity. It suits my wide knowledge scope, practical skills and solid learning foundation to delve into such advanced study. The University of Edinburgh boasts landscape design education that will help me bring vision into life. I am anxious to gain new skills and critical awareness of contemporary landscape architecture practice here.

Afterwards I will work as a landscape designer in a company or institute. In 3 to 5 years, I will accumulate enough design and leadership experience, then I aspire to establish my own landscape design office.
