Press release Konica Minolta’s new colour spectrum Langenhagen, Germany, July 2012 Konica Minolta has yet again launched a team of two new colour capable multifunctional peripherals. With them, the company has now completed the upgrade of its colour office printing line up: the new multifunctionals bizhub C454 and bizhub C554 complement the just recently released multifunctionals bizhub C224, C284 and C364. Larger workgroups and departments are the environments where the bizhub C454 and C554 will be most welcomed due to their ease of use, their low power consumption and other green technologies as well as their advanced scanning capabilities, large paper capacity and wide range of finishing options. Konica Minolta now has the right colour multifunctional peripheral (MFP) for every customer’s need: From 22 up to 60 colour pages per minute (ppm). The two new devices, the bizhub C454 and bizhub C554 cover the mid-range of the line up. They are positioned between the bizhub MFPs C224, C284 and C364 for small and medium sized businesses as well as workgroups in larger businesses and the bizhub C654 and C754 that satisfy the needs of large departments, centralised office locations and central reprographic departments (CRDs). The MFPs bizhub C454 and C554 offer colour and black & white printing speeds of 45 ppm (C454) and 55 ppm (C554) respectively. Both new multifunctionals feature an easy to use, nine-inch colour multitouch panel, which works as effortlessly as in most high-end smartphones or tablet PCs. Optional individualisation options for the MFP panel and the printer driver menus make the new systems highly flexible. Konica Minolta’s Info-Palette design further improves the overall usability. Important operations like copying, printing, scanning and faxing are all accessed in the same intuitive way.

The entire series is characterised by green technology for lower power consumption and less environmental impact, leading to a more ecological footprint and reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO). For example, the bizhub C454 and bizhub C554 are able to scan without engine warm-up and therefore reduce energy consumption. Another power saver is Konica Minolta’s next generation of Simitri HD polymerised toner implemented in the new bizhub systems. Features like the dynamic eco timer, which analyses working conditions and automatically adjusts sleep mode and ready timings, further contribute to the ecological performance. The multifunctionals bizhub C454 and C554 also offer advanced capabilities for scanning large numbers of documents for example for archiving tasks. Therefore they are equipped with a dualscan automatic document feeder (DADF), which can scan both sides of a document in only one operation and thus delivers an outstanding performance of 160 images per minute (ipm) in full colour. Both machines can be upgraded with larger paper sidedecks for a higher A4, A3 or SRA3 paper capacity. In addition to the embedded finishing options and the 50 sheet staple finisher, the bizhub C554 can be equipped with a 100 sheets stapler. “With the launch of the bizhub C454 and C554, Konica Minolta offers the best and most complete office colour line up we have ever had,” says Lars Moderow, Group Manager, Product Management Group Output Devices at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. “We now cover an even broader range of different systems with printing speeds for every customer’s need and the possibility to print colour and monochrome documents from a single device. This offers superior quality and the possibility to print more economically with competitive monochrome print costs. We also offer the highest possible usability for our products – identical from the smallest to the largest device.”
