Three small structures design to the area, one square structure that combines old building materials such as stone and wood and contemporary materials such as aluminum and glass; the other two structures are fully gassed areas with aluminum roofs. The square structure have the one site open and the three other sites close by the small stone wall (which already exist) with the extension of sliding windows and aluminum roof. The indoor and outdoor benches will be as it is because they offer several seats to the passers. The indoor benches with that design and the specific shape will use as a seats for storytelling, and learning time. The small interesting sculpture in the middle will be used as a place for fire so the area will be warm and will make the storytelling time more interesting. For safety the hole for fire will be closed with a glass door and will be open only with permission. For any annual event such as Christmas light events, Lantern Festival etc. needed a platform for the speaker; the three steps serve this purpose. The third step is bigger to provide more space to the speaker. That platform can rotate so in case of an annual event the one who speak can rotate the platform at the side where the majority of the people are. The roof provides protection to people in bad weather conditions. The roof design gives modern character to the area so the Morley will be upgrade and come closer to the current data. The glass structures will be used as a protection from the rain and there is the opportunity to hung exhibits from the roof. They are designed around the trees so the existing environment will not be destroyed but also will give an interesting background to the exhibits. The roof of that structure have angle so the rain water will be leaded to the trees area. There is a door on the north-west side of those small structures to give access to the responsible. The whole design is a key element for the area so many events can take place.
Our opinion, churches has a symbolic character and also offer to the community. From this point of view that church should offer to the community of Morley even if is stop being used as a church. Based on the good acoustic of it, the church can be rebuild as a theatre or as a concert hall which can also use from schools, colleges and universities. A good example for our proposal is the St Paul’s & St George’s church in Edinburg.
From St. Peter Port church and Marchmont St.giles church we love the idea of combing the standard and the existing shape of a church with modern materials and design. Another proposal is to use the church as a community space, or Sunday school facilities. However, a church redevelopment with modern design can also as an art gallery
The purpose of the redevelopment of the vacant site adjacent to the new pavilion cinema is to attract young residence of Morley. The technology invaded into the daily people’s life. As a result the purpose of the project will be achieved by designing a building which will be hosted any kind of technology such as computers, electrical games, big TV screens ecosystems etc. this building will entertain people who they can spend their free time with their friends at the cafÊ area as well. However this sounds a good proposal but will not have a good affect at teenagers.
Arts change people mind in a good way and educate them as well. Our second proposal for this site is to design a building for different kind of arts such us photography, music, sculpture and fine art. This idea will attract not only the teenagers of Morley but many residences of Morley. Because of the small size of the site the each facility should take place in different floor. The building will have at least four floors and this may affect the skyline of the area. The building will make the difference and will provide a special and symbolic character; will symbolise the start for Morley’s development.
