VEIBMELD Veibmeld fuse together indie pop-rock with dance music and electronica, hiphop, Detroit funk, nu-jazz and retro ska beats to create a sound heavily influenced by the French House Music Scene and Italian dance producers like Cesare Collina of The Black Mighty Orchestra, with lush panoramas of sound on their recordings and a new wave energy in their live performances. Just when you thought you'd found a pigeonhole for the music, they fly off and take you in a new direction with the same intensity.

"If your i-pod has music on it that ranges from No Doubt to early recordings of Thelonius Monk with a detour through a couple of rave clubs and the Apollo Theater, then the only thing that it is missing is the current recordings from Veibmeld. One listen and you'll be hooked, just like me. This is a great group with a great sound and a great future." Graham Pond

Defiant Kinetics is the audio & graphic outlet of Nick G. Fall; an obsessive beat architect, producer and drummer currently based in Scarborough U.K. Predominantly producing organic instrumental hip hop/electronica by manipulating vinyl based sources with synthesized sounds to compose new forms. D.K's blunted debut album “Nebuliser has been the result of a two year project and has been released on iTunes by Vibra Online. Currently experimenting with a harder, breakbeat-esk, uptempo sound; the progression within new D.K material is due to working towards a live performance scenario - than the more laid back blunted studio vibe of "Nebuliser". Current other studio productions include The Occasion.

Running in conjunction with Yorkbased independent record label Koosh Records, Widescreen Live will be bringing you a regular showcase of local talent, as a platform for label artists and unsigned local acts. Each event features the very best live visuals, lighting, a top quality sound system and with musical support from our resident DJ, Gazzmann, filling in the gaps and keeping the groove going. A typical event would consist of acoustic and laid back music to kick the night off, following through with a wide selection of sounds from some very original and talented bands, none of the usual repetitive cloned music here! And we always close the night with either DJs playing some fresh underground dance music or producers performing their own electronic music live. You could say it’s a mini festival every time Widescreen Live hold an event, either way it’s always great value for money, and proper dead good fun!
Widescreen started over 5 years ago in the City of York as an underground House night, showcasing some of the best local and national DJs on the scene, but as time went by it began to encompass live acts and bands, branching out into the eclectic mixture of genres we see today. Now reborn as Widescreen Live, coming together with Koosh Records to pioneer that widescreen sound and ethos once again. But this time on an even broader scale, focusing more on live bands and all round entertainment. So nothing can keep Widescreen down, and now in the second half of 2008 Widescreen Live joins forces with the recently rebranded Speakeasy Live Music Bar (previously Certificate 18), to bring you regular Saturday nights of pure audio enjoyment.
