T his unique museum is nestled in a beautiful historic setting on the banks of the Columbia River on traditional Doukhobor orchard land on the original settlement of 1908. Here you can learn about the origin of Doukhobor people as you stroll through the spacious grounds containing heritage plants under the benign gaze of a distinctive statue of Leo Tolstoy, sympathizer and benefactor of the Doukhobors.

Nearby are other features of historical interest such as the Doukhobor Suspension Bridge built by hand in 1913, proclaimed a National Heritage Site, and Verigin Memorial Park, scenic tomb of the charis matic leader, Peter V. Verigin, also declared a Person of National Historic Significance.
The Doukhobor Discovery Centre is located across from the Castlegar Airport and is open May - Oct, Mon - Fri, 10am-5pm; Sat 10am-5pm.
