RONEN KORESH

Dear Friends,

I am very pleased to welcome you to the 2nd annual Come Together Dance Festival. This event represents the culmination of many dreams and many years of work, as we fully dedicate Koresh Dance Company to leadership in enriching the cultural landscape and artistic reputation of Philadelphia. Last year we premiered Come Together, a festival celebrating Philadelphia dance. Now, with the support of the PNC Foundation’s Arts Alive initiative, we are able to offer this event for a second year. We at Koresh are grateful for this support—not only of Koresh Dance Company and Come Together, but also for the overarching effect PNC programs have on the arts in Philadelphia. I would also like to thank the 24 companies that will share the stage with us for the 5-day festival. I am grateful to each and every artist for “coming together” to raise the visibility of dance in our great city. Come Together arrives on the heels of a successful 22nd season, one in which we have welcomed 1,300 students to the Koresh School of Dance, presented two Artist Showcases, watched the 10 dancers of the Koresh Youth Ensemble flourish as contemporary dancers, and provided weekly dance classes to 150 students at three underserved elementary schools through our Koresh Kids Dance program. The Koresh Dance Company has also shared its distinctive program of engaging performances and educational events both in Philadelphia and with over 20 other communities across the US. Getting to this point has been a long road, one that we could not have weathered without the support of enthusiastic audiences, generous donors, an inspiring artistic community, supportive friends, and our family bond. Admist the excitment of the festival, a monumental moment for our organization came on June 10th when we closed on our new home at 2002 Rittenhouse Square—a space dedicated to the exploration, creation and facilitation of dance. All of us here at Koresh wish to take this opportunity to acknowledge the generosity and support given to us by you, our friends, and to reflect on the many successes that have been made possible this year through your support. Since moving into the new building, we have been able to provide additional dance classes, workshops and events—including a free dance class day—to our valued students. Additional classes such as yoga and Latin Fusion have been added to our class roster, which would not have been possible without the contributions we received to our capital campaign. For that we are truly thankful. 6

CHOREOGRAPHER & ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

The continued success of our organization, in large part, is founded on the generous patronage of friends like you. Many, many thanks for your continued support of our growing organization. Wishing you a happy and healthy summer,
