This gritty Koresh classic explores the visceral, passionate impulses that endure under the skin of language. From the clawing and clambering of prehistoric bodies to the civilized distance of dancers in open suit jackets, ev • o • lu • tion meditates on artistic instinct and the human necessity for emotional expression. Reimagined for a new cast after its 2009 premiere, this earthy, evening-length work asks how far contemporary communication can get from its messy roots.
NOV 13*: 7:30pm NOV 14* & 15*: 8:00pm
From the choreographer: “Language and art have remained essential to human nature throughout the ages. Expression is fundamental to our existence. To understand that expression in its purest form is to understand ourselves.”

From the choreographer: “Israel is a huge part of my life, it’s what defines me as a person—the culture, the tension, the love of life, the passion, the heat, the music and food, the complexity of racial and cultural integration. My work is Middle Eastern culture coupled with American experience.”
