We have to start with the family, the history, the dedication to quality. Miller Poultry, a family-owned company, has been producing the highest quality chicken since purchasing the processing plant in 1992. The growth of the business is beyond what the family ever imagined and feel very grateful to employ such dedicated employees. The entire operation is quite complex but without its valued employees, none of it would be possible. The company sells chicken in many local, area and regional store chains, including Kroger, Spartan, Meijer, Whole Foods, Martin’s, Mariono’s, SuperValue and more. The company continues to seek employees to be a part of their team where many opportunities exist. Giving back and being involved in the community have always been a part of the company’s standard. Thousands of pounds of chicken are given to food banks, fundraisers and community efforts to help raise money to fund projects and help feed families in need. The company’s mission statement says it all. What is the main product or service your company provides? Butler Mill Services handles, processes and sells steel slag which is a co-product of the steel making process. Who are your primary customers? Our primary customer is Steel Dynamics Butler and our secondary customers are asphalt companies, excavating companies and individuals that use our aggregate products to make driveways. How is your product made and services performed? Our aggregate products are screened, crushed, sized and tested for quality on site. Our steel mill services are performed using heavy mobile equipment and highly qualified operators. How has your product/service changed in recent years? In recent years, we have added a patented new product called Duraberm, which is used as a low-cost driveway stone. The heavy mobile equipment fleet we use to perform our services for SDI Butler has been upgraded significantly in the last five years.

What quality of service or awards have you received? We have gone more than 12 years without a lost time safety incident. We are ISO 9001:2015 certified. Where is your product or service delivered or distributed? Our aggregate products are distributed to asphalt paving companies, excavating companies and individuals that are building a driveway or roadway. All of our services are conducted for SDI on site.

How is your product made or your services performed? By melting and forming copper and blending chemicals. How has your product or services changed/improved in recent years? The value added. Our customers dictate how we have to provide customization for evolving needs i.e. special formulations, delivery time, packaging, etc.

What quality of service standards or services or awards have you received? Registered to the current standard, ISO 9001:2015. We have several customer certifications. Our founder Charles Walker was inducted into the Electroplating Hall of Fame in our industry. Producing the best quality products has made Univertical a world leader in our industry. ECOVANTAGE LUMBER ST. JOE — “There’s nothing like the beauty, warmth, and versatility of real, natural wood. Without the use of chemicals, EcoVantage Lumber — located just east of St. Joe — treats wood to overcome issues of rot, warping and twisting that happens when wood is exposed to the elements. Chemicals not only do not improve the dimensional stability of wood, chemicals pose potential hazards to humans and the environment. EcoVantage was established in 2007 by partners Allen Holman, Carlyle Holman, John Schmucker and Mike Westrick. Brothers Allen and Carlyle grew up in farming. Allen is a real estate broker. Schmucker is a home builder. Westrick is an engineer and inventor. Carlyle Holman is sales manager.

Jason Holman is production manager and Jason’s wife Vicki is bookkeeper. The business operates with a small, dedicated group of employees. “We take pride in what we do, being on the cutting edge of wood preservation without the use of chemicals,” Jason Holman said. “It’s beautiful wood and it’s environmentally safe.” When they learned about the new way to process wood, EcoVantage officials traveled to Finland to tour sites that featured thermally modified wood. What they learned is that thermally modified wood is environmentally safe, renewable and better than commonly used pressure treated wood. Trademarked as the EcoPrem process, wood is exposed to steam and heat in large kilns from Finland to bake out all of the water, sugar and resins that cause wood to rot and become food for insects.
