By Mal Meston Editor-in-Chief Senior Emma Nelson said she is humbly honored to be chosen as the 2018 commencement speaker. “I think it is really special to be able to share my thoughts about graduating and moving on with my senior class,” Nelson said. “Not everybody gets the opportunity to share their feelings and experiences with a large group of people, so I am excited to encourage my peers as the graduating class sets off for life.” Nelson, who will give her speech tonight at the commencement ceremony at L.C. Walker Arena, said she has been thinking and brainstorming ideas about this speech since freshman year. “Even though I wrote this speech in one week, I’ve had ideas running through my head since freshman year, and I’m so excited to share my thoughts and finally goodbyes with everyone,” she said.
