Daniel Walker. The prince who couldn’t save princess Dawn from herself. Yet their fleeting affair brought forth an heir. Chloe has no idea that her most prominent client, Hildegarde is related to Lance’s biological father. Lance is blissfully unaware that his late mother’s best friend Deidre is the only person alive who knows who his father is. Deidre overheard Chloe and Hildegarde’s conversation. She is taken aback at Chloe’s consideration to accept Hildegarde’s job offer. Even more so, when she heard the name Daniel Walker.

[Scene 3: The Gradient Hotel]

After discovering the irregular items in the parking lot storeroom, Deidre had been subtly investigating who the space could be occupied by. She’d asked Zaida to handle the matter as discreetly as possible. But, knowing Zaida, the entire hotel staff probably know about this situation by now.

Zaida: Aunty D, the stuff is gone. Like it was never there. Deidre: You went to check? Zaida: Yes. After my smoke break. Deidre: Seriously? You’re still smoking? Zaida: Sorry, Aunty D. I tried quitting, but it takes time, you know. Deidre: You didn’t tell anyone else about this, hey? Zaida: I told Quinton, he laughed and said I’m only fooling myself. Deidre: I asked you not to tell anyone, Zaida. Zaida: Oh, you mean- oh, no- I didn’t tell Quin- I was talking about quitting smoking. Deidre: Good. And not a word to anyone, especially not Lance or Chloe. Zaida: Don’t worry, Aunty D. I promised Lindani I wouldn’t tell anyDeidre: Lindani?

[Scene 4: Brunch on Bree]

Chloe is stunned at Hildegarde’s irrefusable job offer. Hildegarde: (taking a sip of her kiwi tea) Chloe, you are absolutely perfect for this job. I know you to be a wise woman. I’m not saying that you should be limited to this magnificent opportunity. But you know that something like this does not come around every year. Not even a leap year.

Chloe: Well, I have given it some thought. A lot of thought, actually. And I realised that it surely would open up an entire expansion of what I can offer. There’s really nothing more to say. I- I am ready. I am willing and I would like to confirm that I am up for the challenge. (smiling) I’ve even spoken to my parents this morning.

Hildegarde: Oh, crumbs. I’m going to cry. I’m so happy for you! Welcome to the Windstone International family! (gives Chloe a cheerful hug) Frankfurt is going to love you!

[Scene 5: The Stream Coffee Bar]

Lindani is ready to end his afternoon shift at The Stream. Deidre is in the mood for some confrontational carrot cake. She takes a seat at her favourite table, awaiting service without lifting a hand.

Lindani: (getting ready to leave) Hey, Miss Dee. I’m off to get ready for my next shift at the hotel. Jason will be with you shortly. Deidre: (calm, collected) Sit down, Lindani. We need to talk. Lindani: What’s the matter, Miss Dee? You look feverish.

Deidre: Lindani, when were you going to tell me about your spot at the hotel? Your little hideout? Lindani: Whoah, Miss Dee, what are you talking about? Deidre: You’re wearing the exact same camouflage hoodie I found in the storeroom on level P1. Look, my boy. There are so many -in fact- too many people struggling out there. So many young people who are trying to find their feet whilst battling to find themselves. I want to know everything there is to know about you. You’re one of my employees. You work for Mr Lewis -Lancewho is like a son to me. He owns this coffee bar, as you know. He also has shares in the hotel. We can help you. But I first need to hear your story.

Lindani had no intentions of admitting to anything anyone may have suspected about him. He also never felt guilty. He had no reason to. He was simply seeking shelter.

Lindani: I’m sorry Miss Dee. But I really have no idea what you’re talking about. I got this hoodie from a chain store. Ain’t nothing unique about it. There are plenty all around. I really need to run right now. My sister’s working late tonight. I need to fetch her two kids at the pre-school. I don’t wanna miss the taxi. Deidre: So you’re going all the way home and then plan on coming all the way back to the hotel? Lindani: Yes ma’am. That’s my routine. Deidre: I think you should take the night off. I’ll speak to Lance. Lindani: No! That’s really not necessary. I don’t want to skip my shift for no good reason. Jason: Are you ready to order? Deidre: Yes, thank you. Just a cup of rooibos with ginger. Lindani: (sarcastic smile) Nothing for me, J. Thanks. I’m off. See you later, Miss Dee. (exits the coffee bar) [Scene 6: Lance’s Loft]

On her way to meet her sister Logan and their parents for supper at one of her favourite restaurants, Chloe stops by Lance’s loft to drop off an important file.

Not knowing what her plans are, oblivious Lance pours two glasses of champagne. He plans on surprising Chloe with tickets to an intimate theatre production, where he plans on making it official.

Chloe: (exits the lift into Lance’s loft) Lance: (in awe of Chloe’s beauty) You look like a dream. I’ve missed you. Chloe: (smiling) Thank you. I brought the file and one of your cuff links. It must’ve slipped off at the event the other night. Lance: Oh, no biggie. You know I have like 300 of those. Chloe: (sees the Champagne glasses) Are you and uncle Mel celebrating something? Lance: No, these are for us. Chloe: Oh, I actually came to tell you that I won’t be able to make it tonight. Lance: That’s fine. We can go another night. You’re all dressed up though. Chloe: Dinner with my parents. Lance: Are they here in Wharflock? Why didn’t you tell me? Chloe: My mind’s been really busy. Let’s meet for breakfast tomorrow morning? Lance: Sure, we can do that. But I could join you guys now as well? Chloe: Why? We’re just gonna have good old family catch up. Lance: Yeah, I know. But I want to askChloe: I need to pick up Logan. Can we talk tomorrow? Lance: Let’s elope. Chloe: What? Lance: I’m willing, if you are?
