ANNUAL ASSESSMENTS!!
It’s almost that time of year again. Here is the schedule for the collection of the Association’s Assessments: November 30th: Initial invoices are mailed out by the end of November. Please make sure the management company has your correct mailing address. January 1st: The Assessment is due on January 1st every year. January 31st: Unpaid Assessments become delinquent. February 1st: Late fees and interest begin and Late Notices are mailed out for all delinquent accounts. March 1st: A Warning Letter is mailed out on all delinquent accounts. April 1st: A Final Notice is mailed (via certified mail) on all delinquent accounts. There is a $35 charge to the delinquent account at this time. May 1st: If payment still has not been received or a payment plan has not been entered, delinquent accounts are sent to the Attorney at this time. The Attorney can file a lien and all legal fees will be billed back to the delinquent account. Payment Options: If you are unable to make payment in full, please contact KPM Management so that you can make payment arrangements. You will still pay interest on the unpaid balance, but you will not be sent to the attorney. Statements will be mailed the first of every month for accounts making payments. Quite a few homeowners have started making monthly payments ahead of time, so that when the assessment becomes due they are already paid. Methods of payment: CHECK OR MONEY ORDER - Cash is not accepted. Please make payment with check or money order made payable to your community. ONLINE - You can now make payments online using Visa, MasterCard, Discover or with a checking account. There is a service fee of $14.95 for one time payments or $2 per transaction if you set up recurring payments. Go to www.KPMCommunities.com for more information.

Harris County LEASH LAW
Creek Bend Board of Directors
Harris County Animal Control advises, “All dogs and cats must be kept under restraint while in the unincorporated areas of Harris County, Texas. The custodian of a dog or cat is not authorized to have, harbor or keep any unlicensed dog or cat, nor to allow any dog or cat to become a stray.”
We have several houses that need roof repairs. Please do your part to help keep our home values up.
Restraint is defined as “the control of a dog or cat under the following circumstances: 1. When it is controlled by a line or leash not more than six (6) feet in length, if the line or leash is held by a human being, who is capable of controlling or governing the dog or cat in question 2. When it is within a fully enclosed vehicle 3. When it is on the premise of the custodian and the animal does not have access to sidewalk or street.”
Always be prepared and keep your alarm system activated. Criminals are always looking for opportunity. Install a motion sensor light and a cheap camera system for outside, if needed.
Animals that are not properly restrained pose a threat to all our residents. While you may know your pet is friendly, an animal running at someone who is walking by is very scary for that person. Many children are afraid of animals and become frightened, which could result in the child getting hurt trying to avoid the animal.
While it may be nice to have your animal out in the yard while you work or play, it is against the law, unless the animal is properly restrained. Let’s all help keep our community a safe and comfortable place for all our residents by being responsible pet owners. This will not only protect anyone who may be walking or bicycling in the area, but also the pet owner who could be held legally responsible or possibly sued for failing to properly restrain their pet. To make a complaint or report an animal that is not properly restrained please contact: Harris County Precinct #5, Contract #87: 281-463-6666 Harris County Animal Control: 281-999-3191 Harris County Health Department, Rabies/Animal Control Section 2223 West Loop South, Houston, Texas 77027-3588 www.countypets.com

notes from the board
Houston ISD and Katy ISD have both stated they are not raising taxes, so it is a great time to protest your tax value and get ahead of the curve. And it’s inevitable that they will go up some time in the near future.
Remember to call 911, not Board Members when you see criminal activity. Time is the key to stopping criminal behavior. If you live near an entrance, you need to take extra precautions. Criminals like to choose these homes because it is easy to get away after the crime.
Website
Our new website is up and running. Go check it out. You can pay your fees and much more on the site. It is more user friendly than our old site. CHECK IT OUT! www.creekbendestates.com.

281-391-SOLD (7653) www.lizcarter.com Our Family Serving Your Family Since 1976 GARDENING TIPS FOR OCTOBER
• Dig and store caladiums before the foliage dies. Allow the bulbs to dry in the shade, shake off the dried soil and dust with sulphur to control fungus. Store by hanging in open mesh bags or old panty hose. • Flowers planted for spring can begin when the temperatures are going to stay cooler. Shrubs and trees can be planted now. Woody plants concentrate on root growth through the winter and the more headstart they can get before summer, the better. • October 15th is about the time for dividing and planting daylilies. • Watch out for brown patch in St. Augustine grass. These circular brown patches are caused by a fungus that is activated by moist cool weather. Control with Daconil. • If you need to do any pruning, do it early in the month. The re-growth stimulated by pruning needs to harden off before that odd-ball frost of Halloween. Prune fruit trees when leaves begin to fall. Remove all dead, weak and over-crowded growth. Tip back main branches to control size and shape. Spray w/dormant oil when temperature is between 30-60 degrees. • Cut back tops of perennials after they have bloomed. Divide roots and transplant anytime from now until March, the earlier the better. • Get the ant baits down. This will greatly reduce your spring populations. • Clover left over from last year may be growing. It’s best to hit it with the post-emerge herbicides in October and November. At least two applications are usually needed, even if done this early. • For color throughout the winter, begin planting pansies.

Pets and their people are invited to the Blessing of the Animals at New Hope Presbyterian Church, which is located at 1350 North Mason Road, Katy, TX 77449. All pets should be held, caged or on leashes and all children with pets must be accompanied by an adult. Children may bring stuffed animals. Those whose pets do not travel well or do not get along well with other animals are asked to bring a photo of those pets. For more information, you can contact the church office at 281-492-8520.
Congregation Or Ami Great Comedy Night
As comedian Allan Sherman once said, “you don’t have to be Jewish”…… to perform comedy at Congregation Or Ami, West Houston’s only conservative Synagogue, but you do have to be funny. On Saturday, October 13th, nationally renowned comedian Ross Bennett, will perform his unique brand of very funny stand-up comedy at the Synagogue, in an authentic comedy club setting, at 8:30 PM. Bennett, a one time West Point Cadet who left the Academy to become a Comedian (“probably the greatest service I will ever do for my country”), has been performing comedy for over 30 years. Over the years, Ross Bennett has appeared at the Friar’s Club and on many TV programs including “Evening at the Improv.” Bennett also co-wrote and stars in the very funny play, PASTRAMI ON RYE WITH MAYO, about the last 4 comedians performing in the Catskills. The October 13th performance is open to the entire West Houston / Katy community. Please purchase your tickets early, as seating is limited. Congregation Or Ami is located at 3443 Wilcrest Drive Houston, TX 77042. Tickets, which are $36 each, include a wonderful selection of desserts, wine, soda and coffee. Premium seating and group tables are available. For additional information, please check online at www.oramihouston.org or call 713-334-4300.
