The monthly Board of Directors meeting for Williamsburg Colony generally are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM, at the clubhouse located at 2315 John Crump. Park hours have been posted. Park hours are 8 AM to 8 PM. Also, those wishing to play baseball in the park or street, please be careful. Any damage done to resident’s property is the responsibility of those parents of the children that cause it. Also it has been brought to the Board’s attention that use of foul language and trouble at the park must stop. If Constables report such behavior, individuals may become barred from park/pool area. Let’s all have fun and play nice. Older kids watch out for little ears nearby. Remember, $250 reward to anyone who provides information about damage or vandalism to the park. This reward will be paid and no one will ever know who reported such damage.
STREET LIGHTS
Your Association pays for your streetlights from your annual dues, whether they work or not. If a light is out in your area, please call 713-207-2222 and report it. Each light pole should have a number on it. When reporting the out or malfunctioning light, give them the pole number and closest street address. We want all of our lights to work. A lighted area is a safer area.

MINUTES OF THE WILLIAMSBURG COLONY MAINTENANCE ASSOCIATION, INC. BOARD OF DIRECTORS
AUGUST 8, 2012 A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Williamsburg Colony Maintenance Association, Inc., was held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, 5:00 PM, at the community clubhouse, pursuant to Notice attached as Exhibit “A.” Directors in attendance were Shelli Shaw, Ken Rychlik, Chad Ray and Jana Heaton. Also in attendance was Dolores Sue representing Planned Community Management, Inc. (PCMI). With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order at 5:00 PM. EXECUTIVE SESSION The Board held their executive session to discuss deed restriction violations. At 6:00 PM, the Board adjourned to open forum. There were no homeowners present. MINUTES The minutes of the meeting held on July 11, 2012 were reviewed and approved as written. Minutes attached as Exhibit “B.” FINANCIAL Ken Rychlik presented the financial statement as of June 30, 2012. The money in the bank totaled $384,408.56. This includes checking and money market accounts and is the money to cover both operating and reserve expenses. DELINQUENCY Total delinquency for the month ending July 31, 2012, was $85,990.08. BOARD ANNOUNCED DECISIONS MADE DURING EXECUTIVE SESSION During executive session, the Board reviewed each deed restriction matter. Total violations noted for the month were two hundred ninety-three (293). There were no accounts to be turned over to the Association attorney. OLD BUSINESS Constable Deputy Hours Between meetings an issue came up and needed to be handled by email/phone call vote, as there were Board Members out of town

The day shift would be 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with Thursday, Friday and Saturday off. The evening shift would be 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday with Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off.

NEW BUSINESS Pool /Clubhouse Rentals The Board reviewed a letter from a resident concerning the pool/ clubhouse rentals. After due discussion, a motion was made, seconded and unanimously agreed upon to not refund any money, as the function was still held in the clubhouse. The Board also unanimously agreed that before swim season 2013, rules will be passed and placed on the website explaining to residents the pool reservation process and the numbers of guests that can attend without additional guards during the hours the pool is open for the residents. This is an attempt to preclude any misunderstandings next year on the rentals. Municipal Utility District Number 2 (MUD#2) The Board discussed the problems that are occurring due to oncea-week trash pickup. It is causing a deed restriction enforcement problem and unsanitary conditions in the subdivision. A motion was made, seconded and unanimously agreed upon that the Board of Directors of Williamsburg Colony will send a letter to the Board of the MUD #2 and request that this issue be addressed. This letter will be signed by the Board of Directors President, Ken Rychlik. Frequency and Time of Meetings The Board discussed the start time of Board Executive Sessions. When the Board meets at 5:00 PM and only reviews deed

Curfew Reminder
We would like to remind residents that being in Harris County means those under the age of 18 must not be roaming the streets after midnight. Any children spotted after midnight should be reported to the Constables at 281-463-6666. Most of the trouble we have in the subdivision that is attributed to mischievous minors occurs after the curfew. Once park hours are posted, anyone in the park after hours will be charged with trespassing.
GARAGE SALE SIGNS
To all Williamsburg Colony residents, garage sales are great, we can increase our attic and closet space, locate things we forgot that we had and most important, make a few extra bucks. The one thing that is sometimes forgotten is the placement and removal of our garage sale signs. So please neighbors, if and when you have a garage sale, let’s try and remember not to place garage sale signs on any of our community signs or poles. Also, remove signs that are staked when your garage sale is complete. Cleaner streets do make a difference.

Animals that are not properly restrained pose a threat to all our residents. While you may know your pet is friendly, an animal running at someone who is walking by is very scary for that person. Many children are afraid of animals and become frightened, which could result in the child getting hurt trying to avoid the animal. Veterinary Public Health (formerly called Harris County Animal Control) advises that “All dogs and cats must be kept under restraint while in the unincorporated areas of Harris County, Texas. The custodian of a dog or cat is not authorized to have, harbor or keep any unlicensed dog or cat, nor to allow any dog or cat to become a stray.” Restraint is defined as “the control of a dog or cat under the following circumstances: 1. When it is controlled by a line or leash not more than six (6) feet in length, if the line or leash is held by human being who is capable of controlling or governing the dog or cat in question or 2. When it is within a fully enclosed vehicle or 3. When it is on the premise of the custodian and the animal does not have access to sidewalk or street.”

• Brown patch will continue to plague St. Augustine lawns as nights get cooler and humidity and rain continue. Discolored circles will appear in low areas almost overnight. Apply a fungicide recommended for brown patch according to label directions. Avoid walking through brown-patched turf. It spreads easily from the bottom of your shoes. If brown patch appears in the same lawn areas every year, add an inch or two of sandy topsoil to eliminate those low spots. • Fertilize St. Augustine turf with a winterizing formula to promote root growth over the winter months. now and mow on a schedule that cuts no more than one-third of the grass blade away. • As chrysanthemums and other perennials finish blooming, cut flowering stalks to the ground to permit all strength to be used in making root growth. • Feed roses lightly, but avoid nitrogen fertilizers. Do not prune now. Keep up spraying program and water deeply. • Remove dead foliage and plant debris to help eradicate insects and disease organisms. Thin out and transfer volunteer seedlings. Beds made now will benefit by weathering before being planted. If soil is heavy, dig six inches deep, leave rough, cover with gymsum and strawy manure, water and allow to mellow. • Bananas are more likely to bear fruit if the trunk does not die back in winter. Cut banana stalks back to six feet, wrap with newspaper and burlap. • Continue mulching for winter. Build up a thick top mulch to protect roots from freezing and winter drying. Don’t throw away those pine tree needles; they make great acidic mulch for azaleas, gardenias and next Spring’s impatiens. • Place pansies in beds after weather has cooled. Use a little blood meat mixed in soil under each plant. • Now is the best time to plant trees and shrubs.

ACT reports that Katy ISD graduates for 2012 are more ready for college-level coursework when compared to students across the state. In 2012, more than 1,500 Katy ISD students participated in ACT testing and, as a district, had a higher average score in all four categories than the state average. The Katy ISD average composite score for 2012 was 23.5, while the average composite score for the state was 20.8. The ACT consists of curriculum-based tests of educational development in English, mathematics, reading and science designed to measure the skills needed for success in first year college coursework. ACT research shows that it is the rigor of the coursework that has the greatest impact on ACT performance and college readiness. KATY ISD SENIORS NAMED SEMIFINALISTS IN 2013 NATIONAL MERIT® SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation released the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 58th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program. A total of 41 of these talented seniors are from Katy ISD. As Semifinalists, these students now have a chance to compete for some 8,300 National Merit Scholarships, worth more than $32 million, that will be offered in spring 2013. Katy ISD’s 2013 Semifinalists are: Cinco Ranch High School: Austin Anthis, David Bjerkaas, Bohao Cheng, Ji-Hoon Cho, Daniel Fernee, Celine Lee, Yifei Li, Hongzhou Liu, Dmitri Mirakyan, Shinq Yng Tan, Tiffaney Tran and Katherine Yu. This past school year, nine outstanding Katy ISD students were selected to participate in Education in Action’s 2012 spring break and summer camps. Lone Star Leadership Academy camps took place in Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin/San Antonio and Houston/ Galveston depending on the students’ grade level. Selection for the Lone Star Leadership Academy was based on each student’s demonstrated academic success and leadership ability, an educator recommendation and involvement in school and community activities. During the Lone Star Leadership Academy camps, selected students joined delegations of other distinguished students from across the state to develop leadership skills while learning about the great state of Texas. They also completed problem solving and decision-making simulations, exercised creativity and practiced presentation skills in leadership groups. Participants experienced what they are learning in school through visits to historically, politically, scientifically, and environmentally significant sites. Bear Creek Baptist Church is offering Upward Basketball and Cheerleading for K-8th Grade. Cost is $75 for Basketball and $80 for Cheerleading. They will have one hour of practices a week and on Saturdays they will have a game for one hour. Every practice and game takes place on our Campus. They will learn great new skills from encouraging coaches. Registration began October 15th. Each child needs to attend one evaluation session. When the launch team for New Creation Lutheran Church gathered to plan a first public event, they wanted it to be family oriented and fun to reflect their worshipping community. This goal was achieved at their first annual Blessings Event held the last Sunday in August. Entire families, including pets, came to the Cornelius’ home on James Lane in Fulshear to receive blessings for the new school year! Teachers representing three districts were blessed. Families with roots in Ecuador and Colombia were included, possibly drawn by the launch team’s previous experience supporting education for street children in Peru. Dogs of many breeds romped together, including one retriever who repeatedly jumped into the swimming pool. Thanks to a grant from Fort Bend Thrivent Financial, there were hot dogs to eat and games to play. A large inflatable proved to be the most popular activity. At the end of the day, children left for home with a gift bag, a Bible verse and a smile. All were invited back at a later date for New Creation’s first worship service with Pastor Dale Olson.
