DEED RESTRICTION REMINDERS

GREEN ALGAE: Many homes in Sundown Glen have developed a green algae on them - mostly on the north side of the house. Please check your home and remedy this problem ASAP before Crest Management starts sending violation letters. To get rid of the stain: use a solution of 3 parts white vinegar to 7 parts water. Scrub the siding with a soft sponge and rinse it with water. You can prevent the mold from returning by regularly cleaning the problem areas of siding with this mixture. Remember, these letters cost the HOA and homeowners… please abide by all deed restrictions for maintaining your property and help keep Sundown Glen looking nice. FLOWER BEDS/YARDS: Now that the weather is cooling off, this is a great time to get yards raked & flower beds weeded and mulched and ready for spring planting. FENCE REPAIRS: Please inspect your fences and repair/replace missing/ warped or deteriorated boards. The Senior Social Group will meet the last Thursday of the month in February (28th) from 11:00 AM till 3:00 PM at the clubhouse, 2907 Walnut Springs. No trash or clippings of trees and grass is to be dumped in the pond. Any injury sustained while playing in or around the detention pond will be the responsibility of the parent. Anyone being in or throwing trash in the detention pond will be charged with Criminal Trespassing subject to a fine or jail by the Sheriff. These ponds are to help our subdivision in rain and flood. The detention ponds will hopefully help our homes from being flooded.

Last year, Katy ISD opted to participate in the deferral as the district adjusted to the rigor of the new STAAR test. “Katy ISD will again participate in the deferral, as we feel that this will allow both students and teachers an opportunity to better understand STAAR, while focusing on the subject matter and not just a final test score,” said Dr. Christine Caskey, Katy ISD Chief Academic Officer. As posted on the Texas Education Agency’s website: “Deferring the 15 percent rule for this school year relieves some of the pressure being felt in Texas districts as we continue the transition to a more rigorous accountability system,” Williams said. “This deferral also allows the Texas Legislature ample opportunity to address the various issues and concerns that have been expressed about implementation of the new system.” On Nov. 29th, Williams received letters from Gov. Rick Perry, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and Senate Education Committee Chair Dan Patrick urging deferral of the 15 percent rule. All three state leaders noted the rule would be an issue that would be discussed during the upcoming legislative session. “Changing Acorns to Oaks” is the theme at Texas Christian School this fall, as well as the title of their annual school wide play this past November. Families and community members enjoyed an eventful evening at the farm where Jr. High and High School students played key roles and students 2 years old – 12th grade sang songs. This fun filled evening will be remembered for years by the class of 2013 as they gave the audience quite a laugh in their roles. Academic, social and spiritual growth is a priority for the administration and staff of TCS. The 2013 Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show and Rodeo

It made history in 1943 as the first of its kind to be established on a local school level and now the Katy Rodeo has grown to encompass three nights of rodeo entertainment for the whole family. 70 years later, the Katy Rodeo is one of the few remaining youth and professional rodeos still supporting FFA. In conjunction with the annual Katy ISD livestock show, the Katy Rodeo is an event that supports agricultural education within the Katy Independent School District. The livestock show, rodeo, carnival and parade draw sold out crowds from Katy and many of the surrounding areas.

The Katy Rodeo has something for all ages. The Katy Cowgirl Mounted Drill Team opens each night’s performance while a Katy ISD student performs the national anthem.
